When it comes to fashion, Barack and Michelle Obama clash like a bad outfit.

"He doesn't understand fashion," she tells The New York Times in a new interview.

The first lady adds that he even refers to one of her gray metallic belts as "my 'Star Trek belt.'"

"He's always asking, 'Is that new? I haven't seen that before,'" she says. "It's like, 'Why don't you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet.'"

She says her husband typically tells her things like: "You didn't need any more shoes. The shoes you had on yesterday were fine. Why can't you just wear that for the rest of the presidency?"

Another hot-button issue for the first lady: Her body.

"I have hips," she tells the Times. Pointing to her Maria Pinto skirt, she adds, "I have them covered up with these pleats."

She says she has to follow an exercise regimen of light weights, calisthenics, jump-rope and a cardiovascular routine (including interval running) so she can feast on dessert, burgers and fries.

Fries "are my favorite food in the whole wide world," she says. "I could live on French fries."

She says her greasy food habit hasn't rubbed off on daughters, Sasha, 10, and Malia, 7.

Look back at all the famous first children

Asked if they eat at fast food restaurants, she says, "Some of them I want to go to, because it's quick and easy, and you figure, 'Well, we ate fine all week, guys, let's go get this.'"

But she says, "Theyre like, 'No, Mommy, we won't be eating there.' And I feel like, 'Darn, where are we going to go?'"

to "crissy" This Bush bashing is really getting out of hand. Can you give me ONE example of any instance where Laura Bush has not shown what you call "class" in her manner, dress, or speech?

This comment is for Taylor and Blah Blah, you obviously don't know anything or you would not be crashing our president and first lady. They are trying to straighten out the mess that they inherited when President Obama was elected. I hate to be the one to tell you this but you need to find God and quick, before you burn in HELL!!!!!!!

Neither, does she. She looks like a dude in rags an old person would wear. I know lots of people who would never dress or want to look like that. UGH. American's NON-fashion 1st lady.

President and Mrs. Obama are a breath of fresh air after the horiffic fiasco of the last eight years. It is wonderful to see a couple so obviosly in love, coping with life in a fish bowl and being so natural and unasuming. The president is doing the best he can with the can of worms on his plate. God help him help our nation. God Bless America.

It's funny when people try to seem smart by posting political talk on a Yahoo OMG topic. Of course kids in Africa starve, kids in America starve. Ever heard of the Appalachians? Funny how a place in America has a standard of living comparable to 3rd world countries, yet no one seems to care about them. Why can't we help children and families in America Mr. & Mrs. Obama?
