Michael Lohan Lashes Back: 'Samantha Is Toxic'

Access Hollywood - August 28, 2008 12:48 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- After Lindsay Lohan told Access Hollywood on Wednesday that dad Michael was "out of control" for speaking out about her personal life, he lashed back to Access' Billy Bush in an interview for "The Billy Bush Show."

"I want him to stop hurting and talking to the media about the people I love," Lindsay told Access, prompting another response from her dad, who pointed the finger at her constant companion, DJ Samantha Ronson, for holding back Lindsay's career.

And while Michael claims pictures exist of Samantha slipping drinks to a reputedly sober Lindsay under a table, he says that's not the problem.

"Lindsay doesn't drink or use," Michael told Billy. "[She] has been responsible with her work, she's been doing a great job -- however drinking and using isn't the only form of addiction, and the relationship that Lindsay has with Samantha is toxic."

According to Michael, Samantha is a "parasite" who his daughter needs to rid herself of to get back on track.

"I think sooner or later you're going to see Lindsay right back up on top where she belongs and she's going to turn around and say, 'Dad, you were right all along.'"

While Michael was quick to criticize LiLo's constant companion, he made it clear that he thinks their relationship is not a sexual one.

"Absolutely not," he said. "She dated guys her whole life, she has a relationship with Sam and it's a friendship because she's been hurt by so many guys in the past maybe she kind of walked away and found solace and companionship in a girl."

"I don't believe it's anything more than a friendship they have," he continued, "but that's between Lindsay and God, and Samantha and God."

Lindsay told Access that she hasn't spoken to her father for some time - and Michael claims he's getting much of his information from her mom, Dina Lohan.

"If Dina was on the right page, and doing the right thing as a mother and didn't play two sides of the coin like she does, then things would be much better for Lindsay," he said. "She tells me one thing about Sam's relationship with Lindsay and how opposed she is to it and even told me yesterday that Sam's writing a book -- and she tells me Lindsay shouldn't be around Samantha but in the meantime she's sitting having dinner with [the Ronsons]."

Lindsay and Dina were spotted eating at New York restaurant Bar Pitt on Sunday with Samantha and her mom, Ann Dexter-Jones.

Michael finished by saying, "All I care is about Lindsay being happy in a good solid relationship that makes sense in her life. That's all, that's all."

Samantha responded to Michael's earlier comments on her blog on her MySpace Celebrity Page on Thursday, calling him "the man who is so desperate for attention that he goes to the media whenever possible."

"I am not the reason that he has no contact with his daughter, he is," she wrote.

Denying there would be a rumored tell-all book, she continued, "I am, always will and always have been here for her for her -- not for anything else. When does your book come out, Mr. Lohan?"

  • I understand what Lohan's dad is saying but I don't believe it comes from a place of love. If that were the case, he'd make a bigger effort shut his mouth and listen for once. Love for your child should be unconditional no matter what. I know they challenge you from time-to-time, but what good does publicly humiliating your family and someone you barely know? He's j

Lindsay's dad and MOM should just cool it. I find it interesting that she has this "great" relationship with her mother who appears to be a complete embarassment. A queen of superficiality who is making a fool of herself and her younger child in a pathetic television show. Perhaps psychologically Lindsay has picked the parent who gives her unconditional approval despit

I think family should stick together. It doesn't make sense how father and daughter quarrel so much. They should just make amends and leave the BS out of their lives. Every daughter needs a father, and a father should never bad mouth his daughter. It goes both ways. Where's the repect for parent and child?
