LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Dow may be in shambles, but that's not scaring Michael Douglas away from returning to "Wall Street."
While a sequel to the 1987 classic has been rumored for quite some time, Douglas has never been confirmed to reprise his role as cutthroat businessman Gordon Gekko - until now.

However, when Access Hollywood caught up with the actor on Monday night, Douglas revealed the announcement might not be far off.
"There's been serious discussions. We're probably going to do a 'Wall Street 2' -- maybe towards the end of the summer," Douglas told Access at the premiere of his new comedy, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past."

"But it's probably about a week away from announcing it with the elements coming together," he added.
However, Douglas might not be the only star ready to take on the project.
A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox confirmed to Access Hollywood that not only is Douglas on board, but Shia LaBeouf is "in talks with the studio, but not confirmed."

In addition, Oliver Stone , who directed the original, will return to helm the sequel.
Original "Wall Street" producer Edward R. Pressman has already signed on to produce the sequel and Allan Loeb ("21") has been tapped to write the script.
The spokesperson said plot details are still being "kept under wraps" but it would be a modern-day storyline "ripped from today's headlines."
According to an online summary of the film, the sequel would see Gekko re-emerging from prison only to find a much harsher financial world than when he left.
"It would be cool," Douglas told Access. "Good timing for it."
