    Mena Suvari Files for Divorce After Less Than 2 Years of Marriage

    This American beauty is back on the market.

    After less than two years of marriage, Mena Suvari filed for divorce from husband Simone Sestito in a Los Angeles court on Friday, TMZ reports.

    The American Beauty actress, 32, wed concert promoter Sestito in a lavish wedding in Vatican City in June 2010, wearing a custom-designed Alice + Olivia gown. The couple exchanged their vows at Santo Stefano degli Abissini, an 8th-century church, and held their reception at Castello Odescalchi, a 15th-century castle in nearby Bracciano -- the same spot Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wed.

    Suvari blames the split on "irreconcilable differences," according to the court papers. Listing the date of separation as Nov. 1, 2011, Suvari also seeks to prevent Sesisto from receiving spousal support.

    The star will also change her legal name from Mena Suvari-Sestito back to Mena Suvari.

    It will be the second divorce for the star; she and cinematographer Robert Brinkman, 17 years her senior, were married for 5 years before divorcing in 2005.

    In happier times, Suvari gushed to Us about Sestito in the months leading up to their wedding. "I love him. He's Italian and my family is part Greek, and it's all about family and culture...I love his family and it just inspires me to live that kind of life."

      I have been married for 6 years now and definitely thought about separation. We made it those rough times. I wish these people would consider this but with money you sometimes become oblivious to what's important.

      Mena is lovely but they were married in June 2010... so a year and 7 months or so? And has she really been working on that many projects? I checked her imdb and she's been keeping busy but... nothing too crazy. I think it's pretty sad when a 4-year college experience "outdoes" the length of a marriage but there's Hollyweird for you.. where you need to get your "pre-baby body back in 2 months"... or you just use a surrogate so you can be "done with it". Hollyweird is in a whole new era... and I just don't get it.

        There's nothing new about divorce ANYWHERE. What I meant by "trend" is like if it's the new style, a fad or something like that.Something that comes into style and all of the sudden everyone wants to do it. Think about all the celebrities that just decided to get divorced in the last 2 or 3 months.... It's like "Oh, so and so got divorced so let me get divorced too".

      why not just live together for awhile to see if you can really make it?? Celebs seem to rush into marriage like it's a game and as soon as they get bored, they cheat or quit.

      It seems that too many of these 'young' Hollywood ladies get caught up in the whole drama leading up to the wedding, that they forget that the work starts after the I-do's. You married him because he "keeps it real" and then walk away for the same reason. I just hope you all find happiness someday.
