Melissa McCarthy is the latest celeb to open up about her issues with weight. The actress, who is best known for her roles on the TV show "Mike and Molly" and the hit movie "Bridesmaids," shared her concerns in a recent interview for Good Housekeeping. "Sometimes I wish I were just magically a size six and I never had to give [my weight] a single thought," said the star. While she shared her frustrations, Melissa did suggest that she worries about people who push the body issue too far. She told the magazine, "Even when someone gets to looking like she should be so proud of herself, instead she's like, 'I could be another three pounds less; I could be a little taller and have bigger lips.' Where does it end?" Regardless of her weight, there is no question that Melissa's life and career are pretty good right now. Here is a look at some of the other things she has been up to lately.
She's got several movies lined up
Melissa earned an Oscar nomination for her scene-stealing turn in "Bridesmaids," so it's no surprise that she has been in demand on the Hollywood scene. Melissa will appear in "This is 40" later this year, and already has a couple of movies lined up for 2013. She will appear in "Identity Thief" with Jason Bateman, and will also co-star with Sandra Bullock as an FBI agent in "The Heat." Clearly, she isn't having any trouble finding work.
Her pet project just got a major boost
Shortly after rising to fame with "Bridesmaids," Melissa co-wrote a comedy called "Tammy" with husband Ben Falcone. The movie has been in the works for several years, but production has yet to begin. However, the movie's prospects received a major bump when it was rumored that Shirley MacLaine might be joining the cast. With a potential comedy team of Melissa and Shirley, it's safe to assume that this movie will start shooting sooner rather than later.
She's starting her own clothing line
Instead of getting down about her body, Melissa is using it to expand her career. The actress is planning to launch a new clothing line, and the target audience will be plus-sized women. "We're getting closer to starting a line," she said in September. "I hate to mention it now because people are going to say, 'You've been talking about it for a year!' but it is getting closer. I'm definitely excited!" Given Melissa's star power, there's no reason to think her fashion line won't be a huge hit.
