Melissa Joan Hart Reveals Mother's Tumor Scare

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Melissa Joan Hart has a lot to celebrate with the her new trim body and the opening of her new dessert shop in Los Angeles - but not everything in her life is sweet. The actress revealed to Access Hollywood details about her mother's recent health scare.

"We found out last week [my mom] needed to have a quick surgery. She [had a] tumor," Melissa told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush on Thursday afternoon.

Melissa's family has gathered in LA to rally around their recovering mother.

"My sister in New York... my brother and my other sister flew out. My other sister drove up from San Diego and we're all, we have seven people staying here," she said.

Fortunately, earlier this week the family was given some good news about their mother's health.

"We found out last Tuesday that it's benign," Melissa added.
