LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Paula Abdul has continued to thank her fans for their support in the wake of her decision not to return to "American Idol," but one former contestant brought her to tears.
On Thursday afternoon, from the set of Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva" in Atlanta, GA, Paula Tweeted that an emotional post from Season 6 contender Melinda Doolittle brought out the water works.

"Melinda, what you posted about me on your blog http://mdoolittlesblog.blog... brought me to tears, which my make-up artist... didn't appreciate since I was seconds away from filming a scene on the TV show Drop Dead Diva, having said that I soo appreciate your... reflection of your experience with me and paying me such honor & respect. I love you Melinda and I am so proud of what you are achieving!"
In her tear-inducing blog, Melinda called the newly ex-"Idol" judge "the heart... the artist... the mama" of the show.

Paula "understands what you're going through and empathizes with you. [She is] the one who knows you may just need to hear ONE good thing...even if it's that your makeup looks good. She's also the one judge that comes to the rehearsals for the AI tour and still offers that encouragement and advice that you quickly realize you still need to hear after all the cameras have turned off," Melinda wrote on her Web site.
Melinda said "Idol" "won't be the same without her."
And she concluded her blog with a personal, heartfelt message to the pint-sized brunette.

"Thank you for being the heart of the show that changed my life. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for celebrating with me and crying with me. Thank you for being there. Thank you for standing up for me. Thank you for loving with everything you have and for genuinely caring. I know that no matter what happens, your talent and your heart will take you wherever you want to go," Melinda wrote. "I will always be a fan of not only what you do, but who you are. I love you and I can't wait to see what's next for you."
