A judge expunged Mel Gibson's DUI arrest from his record Tuesday in Malibu, Calif.

Look back at other shocking Hollywood scandals

The actor, 53, was pulled over by Malibu cops in July 2006 on suspicion of drunken driving. According to the arrest report, he hurled obscene and anti-Semitic remarks against police. He later pled no contest to misdemeanor DUI charges.

After completing the terms of his three-year probation, Gibson's lawyer filed paperwork on Sept. 21 of this year to have the charges dismissed.

Judge Lawrence Mira -- who approved the paperwork Tuesday -- noted that the conviction could still be used for "gun control purposes" and if the star is charged in any future DUIs.

You guys going on about fame... it's not. It's California law. From the San Jose Merc today: "Under California law, a judge must clear a misdemeanant's record if probation is successfully completed, as long as there are no other charges pending and the applicant is not serving a sentence for any crime. So an anti-Semitic drunk who cheats on his wife, knocks up his girlfriend all while claiming to be a "good Christian" has his CRIME removed from the record. I don't know what is worse -- the slimy lawyers who defend sludge like Gibson or the weak, sniveling Judges who granted the request. Must be nice to be able to buy your way out of trouble.

UNfreakenbelieveable!! It is truly sad to know money will buy you anything! How it can be expunged is beyond comprehension. Now you KNOW man-next-door has a better chance getting an air conditioner in hell than be granted expungment! If he had killed anyone it would not matter. He is still a ugly anti-semantic person inside. I personally have wiped Mel Gibson from my entertainment interest
