Mayim Bialik tweets after car accident that she won't lose injured finger

“Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik had a bang-up of her own on Wednesday when the car she was driving was struck by another vehicle in Hollywood. According to TMZ, the mom of two was the only one in the white Volvo when a van filled with tourists from Chile hit her in a busy intersection. An emergency medical team rushed to the scene to treat the former “Blossom” child star and were met with “tons and tons of blood everywhere,” says one source.

Bialik’s left hand was so severely injured that her thumb “was almost completely severed … it was just hanging there.” But fans need not to worry: she's going to be ok -- and she still has a sense of humor about it all. The actress, 36, tweeted from the hospital shortly after the accident to say, "(husband typing) In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna See pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol."

Before this accident, it had been a pretty smooth ride for Bialik. Last month, she received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS’ mega-hit “Big Bang Theory.” In March, the former child star, who received her Ph.D in 2007 before returning to acting, also released a book about the controversial subject of attachment parenting called Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way.
