Similar to American Horror Story, which was revealed to be an anthology series, the concept for True Detective would be to resolve the serial killer story, and introduce new casts and stories in subsequent seasons.

The Killing's Nic Pizzolatto will write and executive-produce alongside Richard Brown, Steve Golin, Bard Dorros and Cary Fukunaga, who will also direct.
