    Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves Are Engaged!

    It was a very Merry Christmas in the McConaughey-Alves household!

    Matthew McConaughey had an extra special present for his girlfriend of five years, Camila Alves, on Sunday -- an engagement ring!

    "Just asked Camila to marry me, #MerryChristmas," the Lincoln Lawyer actor posted to his Twitter along with this pic of the happy couple kissing on his WhoSay account.

    The proposel comes as no surprise being that back in March, the 42-year-old told Esquire that he's known the 29-year-old model and host of Bravo's Sheer Genius is The One. "I found the woman... I wanna make a family with, hopefully live our life out together," he declared to the magazine.

    The couple met at an L.A. bar in 2006 and have two children: a three-year-old son Levi and a daughter, Vida, 23 months.

        No, not untill she is his wife. It takes every bit of 15 minutes to say wedding vows, so I'm sure they had time to do this before they decided to be a "family."

      Its about time he made an honest woman of her! I don't understand these celebs that act like marriage is this big huge "thing" but they'll have kids with anybody like its nothing.

        Didn't see her complaining too much.....after all she did have 2 kids with him before getting married. It takes 2 to make a baby and, um, she did it TWICE. Marriage obviously wasn't a high priority for either of them so it had little to do with him "making an honest woman" of her.

        Marriage is overrated. You do not need to be legally married to be honest, be a good partner or be a good parent. Marriage is not necessary if 2 people (of any orientation) care about and love each other and are committed to raising their children together. The ONLY benefit to actually being married is the whole health insurance thing... or emergencies at the hosp when they say the "spouse" must sign this or that. Other than that... live on in peace and happiness with out the piece of paper that somehow makes one "honest".

      Really....after 5 years and 2 babies these morons decide to get 'engaged'. It's all for media hype. They should have just gone off and gotten married some place quiet and then made the announcement.

      5 years and 2 kids , now he;s pretty sure she's the one to be having a family with, and to declare the certainty of the relationship he's willing to commit to an engagement to promise I want to eventually get married to be the legal father of the children we had out of wedlock.The only reason he didn't just have a wedding was the prenuptial isn't signed. Geeez !

      Here we go again.................having children before marriage.

      What is so "outdated" about having enough respect for yourself to want to wait until marriage before having sex ???.........otherwise, when you go on the honeymoon -- it is simply another vacation. I do not care that people try to convince you that having sex before marriage still makes the honeymoon special................it canNOT be -- simply because the sex has already been done prior -- what people are "convinced" is love from the sex bonding -- is simply the joining of two people in lust........which is NOT true, deep love, but the continuance of lusting (in marriage, which is why many marriages never last anymore.......because the marriage is built on lust -- NOT real love).

      The biggest confusion that most people have is thinking that sex is love. Outside marriage, sex is simply lust...........inside marriage it IS a way of showing love, BUT the best way to show someone your love is to always be there for them -- through the good and the bad. THAT is real love.

      whoopee crap... what a shining example for america's youth.... no committment, no vows, two kids...oh but for him it's no big deal...he makes millions he can afford illegit kids...unlike the masses....who, after having the kids, drop out of school, end up living on food stamps and rent allowances and free healthcare

      I would be insulted if I were Ms Alves, but of course I would marry the father of my children,
      She has more brains than he does anyway.
