Matthew Broderick's 'Ferris' YouTube Video Goes Viral -- 80s Sequels We'd Love to See

At last count it's up to over four million hits, and the YouTube video put up last week that features actor Matthew Broderick clearly reprising his role as Ferris Bueller created quite a sensation. Rumors were rampant that a sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," the John Hughes classic from 1986, had been created under the radar and this video was the first teaser for that sequel.

All the speculation can be put to rest now as Honda has announced that the teaser was part of a Super Bowl Ad the company had created. Todd Phillips, the director of recent comedy smash hits like "The Hangover" and "Old School," directed the spot which pays homage to Ferris' first day off with all kinds of references to the film. Though the rumors of a sequel have now been put to rest, it did bring up the question of whether there are any films from the 1980s that could make for a good sequel over twenty years later. Here are a few we came up with.

"The Breakfast Club" - With any film written by John Hughes, it might be virtually impossible to really create a sequel, because it's hard to imagine the writing being at the same level. If that could be sorted out, there's probably no movie from that era that fans would love to see a sequel for than "The Breakfast Club." Who wouldn't want to catch up with the characters that Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall and Ally Sheedy forever burned in our hearts?

Suggested Title: "The Brunch Club."

"Say Anything" - Writer and director Cameron Crowe has shown some true skill at writing about the inner-workings of a relationship. This film was one of his best works, and it's rife for a sequel. When we last saw Lloyd (John Cusack) and Diane (Ione Skye) they were flying to London together and the plane had just leveled off the cruising altitude. A sequel could give Crowe the chance to tell us whether these High School sweethearts made it, or if they fell apart.

Suggested title: "Said Everything."

"Big" - The 1988 Tom Hanks film is one of his best comedic performances. It's the story of a 13-year-old boy who just wants to be grown up, and is surprised when he gets his wish granted. The film had a number of memorable scenes and still holds up to this day. So why not go back into the life of Josh Baskin about 25 years later and see what happened? Maybe he could work at a video game developer instead of a toy company, and the big question will be whether he and Susan could rekindle their love from so long ago.

Suggested Title: "Bigger"
