With his arm in a sling,
Matt Lauer returned to the
Today show Thursday, days after he
dislocated his shoulder in a bicycle accident.
"I feel good," he told co-anchor Ann Curry. "I doubled up on the meds so I'm ready for all your jokes."
See today's top celeb news photosLauer, 51, crashed his bike after slamming on his brakes to avoid a deer during a ride last weekend.
He said he'll be in a sling for the next six weeks. On the plus side, he joked, he could be starting a new fashion trend.
Quipped Lauer, "It'll be all the rage next year."
Tony Kornheiser of ESPN's
Pardon the Interruption joked about Lauer's accident.
"I never heard of a deer attacking somebody on a bicycle," he teased. "This is ridiculous."
Lauer shot back, "I didn't say it attacked me. It wasn't a knife-wielding deer coming out of the bushes. I think it was as surprised to see me as I was to see it."
If he were trying to cover up the story, Lauer said he'd think of a better scandal: "I would have said a mountain lion, or
Katie Couric , jumped out in front of me."
