Damon, along with actresses Alicia Silverstone and Kerry Washington, is taking part in the Florida VoteFest '08, a program aimed at getting people to the polls on Election Day.

"I don't think anybody who wants Barack Obama to be president can afford to be complacent or rest at all," the actor told the crowd.

Damon told People he feels the election is so important, that he has put it ahead of acting for the time being.

"I took time off from acting until the end of the year to be with my family and enjoy our new daughter," he told the mag at a Barack Obama rally Sunday in West Palm Beach. "But it is very important for me to do what I can to help the Obama campaign so people will go out and vote. We need change in this country and now is the time to be sure that happens."

The Obama campaign wasn't the only team of White House hopefuls exercising some celebrity muscle in the Sunshine State.

Hasselbeck, the co-host of "The View," introduced Governor Sarah Palin at a rally in Tampa on Sunday, where she addressed the recent media scrutiny of the cost of Palin's wardrobe.

"Now, with everything going on in the world, seems a bit odd," Elisabeth said of the attention Palin's $150,000 wardrobe has recently received. "But let me tell you, this is deliberately sexist."

Elisabeth commended Palin on her attire, especially the Alaska governor's choice in accessories.

"She sure is a woman who knows how to dress," Elisabeth told the crowd. "I'm most impressed personally by her accessories, like the flag pin she wears to honor her son, and to honor our military men and women who are fighting right now abroad to defend our right to be here today."

Adding, "They didn't list that accessory... because they know it's priceless."

interesting pattern here. those 4 obama are just short of illiterate - articulation, grammar & spelling are approximately 4th grade level, & they are grossly misinformed. those for mc cain are intelligent, literate, well-versed on the issues & sensible. if obama wins, look at the types who voted him in. Good God, help us all.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck a looser, give me a break she has probally done more with her life than the one who wrote this, A strong smart women who stands up for what she belives in, and it seems to me she is the one who never gets to finish her sentence when it comes to politics, vote for a president who fought for our Flag, who salutes it, not discriminate from it as Obama does.

Is it me or is Elizabeth Hasselbeck a loser. It seems to me that she is always start arguing with her costars when they say something offensive about McCain/Palin. But when she says ignorant stuff about Obama then it's okay. I personally feel that she needs to go somewhere. She's an igornant idiot and needs to leave the View.

I've been around long enough to know that this economy will bounce back soon. The last downfall cycle began during Clinton's second term and bounced back during Bush's term. It will do the same again no matter who is in the White House. I like Obama, but I'm concerned about his lack of foreign policy experience. McCain trumps him there. A very important issue,
