LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Martha Stewart is showing her sympathy for Jessica Simpson's loss after comments that chided the singer after her dog, Daisy, was snatched by a coyote earlier this month.

In an episode of "The Martha Stewart Show" on Thursday, she reached out to the reality star, who is currently filming "The Price of Beauty" in Uganda.

"I said that she should have been watching her dog more closely, but I feel very, very sorry for anybody that loses a pet," Martha said. "Jessica, I hope you find your pet, but if you don't, I'm really sorry that you lost one."

However, shortly after Daisy was taken, the domestic maven lashed out at the pop star for her dog's disappearance.

Coyotes rank about ziltch in priority calls .. we do not send anyone out to them PERIOD. By the time a unit would get on scene the anim

I feel very sad for Jessica's loss but It is well known in that area that coyotes will go after small animals. Martha was right ,Jessica should have been more careful in watching her pet. Martha is a pet lover and I'm sure upset that a small pet was not being looked after. But... what can you expect from a person who didn't know if Chicken of the sea was chicken or fis
