    Maksim Chmerkovskiy Slams Derek Hough

    Maksim Chmerkovskiy Slams Derek Hough

Maksim Chmerkovskiy will not be bullied.

On Monday night's Dancing with the Stars, Hope Solo's 31-year-old partner lashed out at judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli after their scathing critiques. While Lacey Schwimmer and Chaz Bono supported Maksim for standing up for himself, Ricki Lake's partner Derek Hough sided with the judges.

    VIDEO: Watch Maks' outburst

"Derek Hough has been very supportive of his personal career on the show," Maksim said in an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America Wednesday. "When you say judges have been generous, with all due respect, if I had Nicole Scherzinger followed by Jennifer Grey followed by Ricki Lake, I probably would not be very upset with the judges either."

VIDEO: Maks compares being partners with Hope to being partners with Kirstie Alley

But unlike Derek, Maksim isn't going to sing the judges' praises. "I had a long conversation with my dad and I don't regret anything," he said on Good Morning America. "That's why I think I'm misunderstood in this situation. Everyone is waiting for me to bow my head and plead for forgiveness. I have nothing to apologize for. I'm in the business because I love it. I can't really lose with remarks like this."

VIDEO: Maks explains why he and Kirstie worked well together

"One thing I'm not going to embrace is pointing fingers and disrespectful remarks," he explained. "Why are judges allowed to compare us to animals and point their fingers and we can't say we're work and show our opinion?"

The judges do need to take a step back - it's called Dancing with the Stars, not Dancing with the Judges. Carrie Ann is so star struck with the Kardashians, getting misty eyed everytime he dances, Len is just mean and Bruno needs to sit down and bring it down a notch or two. Maks is right to defend his partner. Constructive critic is good, but the judges have become hateful. Maybe time for a change??

was very rude of bruno to compare chaz to a penguin/ewok and other round things. that was uncalled for.

Linda: I thought it was all an act. But if Chaz was hurt by it he should have approached Bruno after the show! Bruno was also hard on Michael Bolton.Bruno can go over the top!

I think he went a little overboard in his comments to the judges but at the same time I agree with him that over the last few years the judges have gotten entirely too personal in their critiques, these dancers shouldn't have to be subjected to rude comments about their weight or compared to animals, etc. Lin did make a comments about Hopes boots and costume and how awful they looked. I agree the costume was awful but she didn't choose it, wardrobe does that. No one can be expected to improve when all they get is insults. As for his comments about Derek, don't agree, Maks has more then his share of talented partners on the show. Nicole had dancing experience when she came into the contest, anyone that's seen her music videos knows that, Jennifer hadn't danced in a long time and Ricki surprised me, I didn't expect her to be able to dance but none of that is of Derek's doing, they don't get to pick their partners. Derek is good at what he does, he has more patience with his partners and he's a better dancer. Maks is angry because he's never won and if you think about it he's in no position to talk about insulting his partners, he does it all the time in rehearsals.

        Kat: he meant Len!

As I said before, Max is his own worst enemy!! For himself and his partners. Look what happened when he mouthed off about Brandi's preformance. They ended up being sent home. Monday night you may see the same thing repeated.

I agree that Maks went too far, but that is his personality. The judges have become very Idolish the past few years. Maybe Maks is right and they should probably bring in some new blood. I for one think that Carrie Ann offers very little. She is pretty, but that is it.

In the real world of ballroom dancing, judges do not critique with words, only with their score cards, the vocal critiquing is unique only to DWTS. This is not the first time Bruno has shown an utter lack of class by throwing out vulgar and disrespectful remarks to one of the "celebrity" dancers. Let's not forget the humiliating words he spit out to Michael Bolton, ""I am a dog lover, but you make it so hard for me. You should have taken your bone and gone back to the dog house"; HOWEVER, what he said to Chaz Bono was an all time low. “ You come out here trying to be a big man...you're a cute little penguin trying to be a big menacing bird of prey”.". Considering what Chaz Bono has gone through, simply put it was a disgusting comment. I understand the network wants to get ratings and the judges verbal critiques ad to the fun of the show but, vulgarity and rudeness doesn't belong in the high class world of ballroom dancing. Furthermore, the only Judge on that show that has BALLROOM experience is Len; Bruno is a pop and hip hop music video choreographer, what makes him so high and mighty? And what gives him the right to criticize people in the repugnant and hurtful manner that he does? Len may not say the most popular things and, he can be a bit harsh at times but, he's never crossed the lines of decency like Bruno has.

That filty mouth of Bruno's needs to go home. Oh and take Maks with you. I feel sorry for Hope, she is a beauty.

Maks should have exercised self control, after all, two wrongs don't make a right but, he is only human and on that particular episode of DWTS the judges comments were out of control. I think more sympathy would have been shown to Maks if he had voiced his grievances against the judges in a more professional manner the way Lacey and Chaz did. Had he not insulted Len, taken a breather, taken time to organize his thoughts and vocalized them more eloquently, as opposed to in the heat of the moment, I don't think anyone would be criticizing him right now. There is a lot of truth in what Maks said, I do stand beside him SOME of his points, I just wish he would have voiced his feelings differently. I don't see Maks as an arrogant #$%$ or a villain in this case, I see him as someone who is extremely passionate about his work and super confident.....with a bit of a temper problem unfortunately. We are all guilty of loosing our cool sometimes, especially when it is something that hits close to home for us. I think the judges verbal bashing of the contestants is something he finds offensive as many of us do; however, like I said, he should have skipped the sarcastic insult to Len and voiced his feelings in a more professional manner, instead of in the heat of the moment.

There are obvious attitudes among the judges. In addition, it does appear favoritism clouds their judgement. As judges, they really should address dance inadequacies with positive constructive remarks, not their negative takes on performance.

At first I thought this argument between & the Judges was phony! I guess it is real!
    • Unknown Soldier  •  7 months ago
The judges should give tips but not make personal comments. Chaz is not a penguin and Hope is sexy! Best to keep your mouth closed and keep your cool & your job Maks. The judges don't need to be so harsh to get their point across. Chaz was an inspiration and a joy to watch. Hope is wonderful!

way to go Max! I agree. I ahve noticed certain dancers consistently get the best partners.
      • Linda 7 months ago
Until the dancers dance that first dance, no one knows who the best dancers are. Until the last week of the season into the finals, no one knows who the best dancers are. So how can you say that eveyone else gets the better partner and Max gets screwed? Krsitie Alley was a great dancer. A dancer is only as good as the professional training them and the willingness they want to put into it. .

this competition is getting to be joke!
    • mongersmom  •  7 months ago
Then I think Maks should start his own show and use "real" people for competitions not the washed up "celebrities" who are trying to revive their careers. I am for JR all the way.

Ive wondered how long it would take before somebody said what Max did. The judges dont have to be rude and call people nasty names to make a point. These people are working so hard and trying to be entertaining. I cant imagine what that would feel like in front of milllion people.
    • Dona Sew  •  7 months ago
      I agree 100% with Maks.
Derek partners are professional dancers before they arrive at DWS ... they have been in musical movies and plays
    • sheila  •  7 months ago
Judges should offer constructive feedback without being cruel and unkind. This year the judges have been over the top with their comments and criticism....possibly trying too hard to be funny and cute..professionalism is out the window. Very disappointed in the judges. I don't blame Max at all for speaking up.
    • J  •  7 months ago
Why do the judges coddle Nancy Grace? She should be booted off the show. I hear she's got a tape running on her show showing the phone number to call DWTS for her. Is that fair? DWTS is getting too political & they all have their favorites. It's not a dance contest anymore, it's a popularity contest.
    • Trad  •  7 months ago
The judges need to judge on dancing form & performance, not on looks & calling names. However, Max and the entire crew need to take it off line and not in front of the viewers. I watch the show to be entertained and learn something about dancing. If I wanted to see & hear ALL that crap from the other night (which Max was right and should ave shut-up), I'd watch a host of other pointless reality shows, or just go to work.

I totally agree with Max. They invite all these stars to the show and then totally humiliate and insult those who "don't measure" up to the pros in front of millions of viewers. Some people just can't dance, but should be commended for their hard work and effort. I can't stand Len and hope he retires soon. He's an old fart that has absolutely no appreciation for adding a little modern twist on some of these outdated dances. Bruno has no filter between his brain and his mouth. Carrie Ann, at least, is kinder in her comments but if she were to leave the show, I won't miss her. We, as fans, want to be entertained, and not have to be embarrassed for the stars who are put down. Go Max!

Totally agree with Max - I watch for the dancers - NOT the judges. I would like to see what the judges could teach and perform with these "Celebs". You bust your #$%$ all week for 10 hrs per day and have some one poke fun of you work- you could only stand so much. Derek has had the advantage of good dancers - Nicole, Jennifer, and rememebr Brooke - all he had to do was keep them on their feet - Derek could not have taken Kirsite as far as Max did. This show is going down hill fast for me.......

I agree Len and Bruno should think before they speak, but Maks has had some really good partners Mel B, Laila Ali, Brandi, and Willa Ford so I dont think its been all bad for him.
    • Patti  •  7 months ago
I think it is the judges that need to get over themselves. Len is the Simon Cowel .of DWTS
Bruno is just crazy and loves to see himself jump around when he gives his critique and Carie usually plays the good guy. They need to judge on the dancing and leave the personal jabs out of it. Bruno was way out of line on his comment to Chaz. How about someone calling him on that? Maks was just standing up for himself and his partner.
    • Kim  •  7 months ago
Please - let's all vote for Hope and Max and #$%$ the judges off - It is a popular vote anyway. Come on - Nancy should not be there still.......
