LONDON, England, U.K. -- Madonna paid tribute to Michael Jackson during her show at London's O2 arena on Saturday night, the same venue the late King of Pop was set to stage his comeback in later this month.

"Biggest cheer of the night at Madonna at o2 was when Jacko appeared and did a medley of hits," Absolute Radio UK DJ Ben Jones wrote on his Twitter account. "Hard to believe he was due to start in a week."

In fact, Michael was set to kick off his "This Is It" run of shows at the O2 arena in just nine days.

On Friday, a photo was posted on Madonna's Web site, showing the pop singer and her dancers rehearsing with a man dressed up like Michael.

Madonna and Michael famously attended the Academy Awards together in 1991.

The King of Pop's death last week at the age of 50, hit Madonna hard.

"I can't stop crying over the sad news," she previously said in a statement. "I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."

Now that's what I am talking about. The Queen of Pop and Dance gave her respects to the King of Pop at her concert in London. I knew it was going to happen. These two were the biggest pop icons in the 80's. I loved Michael Jackson, now I even love and respect Madonna more. She did not have to do it, but she did it. Madonna keep doing what you do.
