Move over, Don Draper! There's a new Draper in town and her name starts with an "M." As in Mrs.
French-Canadian actress Jessica Pare is finding out what fame in the U.S. is like, after her scene-stealing stint on the "Mad Men" Season 5 premiere as the new wife of Don Draper (Jon Hamm).
Pare joined the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce team in 2010, when she signed on to the AMC show as Draper's secretary, Megan Calvet. But a trip to Disneyland changed her character's life forever. Fast forward 17 months to Season 5 and Pare stole the show! Now, check out these 5 ways to steal Jessica Pare's "Mad Men" style:
1. Make Up. Department store makeup giant Estée Lauder recently launched two "Mad Men"-inspired makeup products that are sure to bring out your inner Mrs. Draper. According to Allure, the Estée Lauder Mad Men Collection Lipstick in Cherry ($25) and Creme Rouge in Evening Rose ($40) feature bold 1960's color and come packaged in retro-style gilded cases.2. Lash out! Pare's favorite beauty tip she's learned since signing on to "Mad Men?" According to Bellasugar, the eyes have it. "Lashes! I love lashes now," she said. "I look at my own sad little thin, short lashes. It's just not the same as looking Megan in the eye. It's not." Note to you: Good false eyelashes will take you back to 1966 in one fell swoop.
3. Dress the part. Banana Republic's limited edition Mad Men Collection features a work-ready floral sheath dress, as well as cigarette pants and rose print cardigans for lounging. There's also a sampling of gold costume jewelry-- perfect for work, play or party serenades.
4. Sing "Zou Bisou Bisou." Speaking of party serenades, Mrs. Draper's rendition of the 1960's French pop song "Zou Bisou Bisou" became an Internet sensation, immediately downloadable on iTunes and available on a 7" vinyl record (how retro!) after she crooned it at Don's 40th birthday bash on the season 5 premiere. Sing it and you may have a following of your own! Check out the song -- and Pare's sultry swagger-- here.
5. Clean your house in your underwear. You have to be comfortable in your own skin -- or at least comfortable in pointy black lingerie -- to parade around half naked. But Pare's character had no problem cleaning house in her undies. Of course, her clean scene culminated in some attention from hubby Don, but Pare wasn't a bit unfazed by her nearly-nude scene. According to the New York Daily News, Pare said, "Honestly, it was so well written and said so much about the relationship between the characters that I completely forgot I was wearing a bra and underwear." We didn't, but c'est la vie!
"Mad Men" airs on Sunday night on AMC.
