Lohan late to Day 1 of community service at morgue

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lindsay Lohan arrived late to her first day of community service at the county morgue Thursday and was turned away, another hiccup in the actress' effort to prove to a judge that she is complying with terms of her probation.

Lohan had been told to arrive at 8 a.m. for an orientation session but arrived 40 minutes late, spokesman Craig Harvey said. The actress was told to try again on Friday but will have to arrive at 7 a.m., he said.

Steve Honig, Lohan's spokesman, said in a statement that the actress was late because she didn't know which entrance to report to and "and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival."

Lohan apologized later Thursday on Twitter. "I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the Coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go!" Lohan tweeted.

"With all the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!!!" she also tweeted.

The "Mean Girls" star's tardy arrival at the morgue came a day after she was scolded by a judge for being terminated from a community service assignment at a women's shelter. The hearing ended with Lohan's probation being revoked and her being led from court in handcuffs.

She later posted $100,000 bail and was released.

She remains on probation for a pair of drunken driving arrests in 2007 and a misdemeanor theft case filed earlier this year after she was accused of taking a $2,500 necklace without permission. She pleaded no contest in that theft case.

Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner ordered Lohan to complete 16 hours of work at the morgue before a Nov. 2 hearing. The judge will determine whether Lohan violated the terms of her probation by being terminated from the Downtown Women's Center after being late several times and not showing up for her service.

The actress had done community service in recent days with the American Red Cross, but Sautner said Lohan would not get credit for that work as part of her court case.

A probation officer noted in a report filed Wednesday that Lohan told her that the work at the shelter was "not fulfilling."

Lohan will be doing mostly janitorial work at the morgue, Harvey said. Her duties will include cleaning and stocking restrooms, mopping floors and washing sheets that the facility uses, he said.

The actress will have to surrender her cellphone while working at the morgue and will have to bring her own lunch, Harvey said.

It is called an overly developed sense of entitlement and it is exacerbated by the fact that she continues to suffer NO consequences for her actions. An over worked and over paid crisis management team and that D-list mother of hers are not helping that girl with the reality check she needs.

Clearly, she also suffers from arrested development, although I personally do not consider mental illness to be an excuse of the law.

She was 40 minutes late because she couldn't find a door?

I know right? How stupid can she be?

next excuse she will use is that she was pushing on the "pull" handle
and it caused her to be 40 minutes tardy.
or she mentally broke down and cried for 39 minutes after "pushing" for 1 minute

she could have walked around 10 blocks looking for one in that time

Wow. I guess she doesn't have access to the internet or a phone. If I was facing jail time and this was a "last chance" I would have made sure where to report and which door to enter. And they made excuses for her again. Holy cow this is so surreal and unfair to the rest of the law abiding citizens.

my favorite part..."Her spokesman Steve Honig says the actress' tardiness was partially because she didn't know which entrance to the facility to use since the doors didn't have any glass in them for her to see inside." What is she, a cow? Can't find the door and just paces back and forth for 40 minutes? This girl needs a wake up call. Parent trap is over with...get over it, there will never be another sequal for the Lohan clan!!!!

It's unfair even to regular criminals who just want to do their time and move on with their lives. I bet once they were no-shows to their trash duty they weren't given second and third chances! LAME!

@Chuck: While no fan of Lohan, I will sympathize with her on this one. The LA morgue is located where the LA County Corner's office is. The LA County Corner's office is located next to LA County/USC Medical Center and USC's Keck School of Medicine. All of these facilities sit on a 31 acre plot of land.

So it's not like it's just one building by itself. It's part of one building in a maze of other buildings. It took me 20 minutes just to find the wing of the hospital where a friend of mine was staying.

SO VERY TRUE, BUT I STILL BELIEVE, THAT SHE NEEDS SERIOUS PROFESSIONAL HELP, SHE SHOULD NOT GO 2 JAIL, GOING 2 JAIL WILL NOT HELP HER, IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY THAT SHE GETS 24/7 HELP WITH THE PEOPLE WHO CARE THAT SHE WILL GET BETTER,AND STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOW LIFE NOTHING'S THAT SHE IS WITH DAILY.I STILL BELIEVE IN LINDSAY, SHE IS NOT A BAD PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Then she should have gotten up and got going early enough to have extra time to find out where the entrance is.

      Her life needs discipline BADLY ! ! ! ! !

IT DOES NOT TAKE 40 minutes to walk around a building.

Most people would have jumped through the hoops the judge asked for, been done with it by now and went on with life.
That is because most people, me included could not come up with the 10% of $100,000 the judge wanted for bail and we would be sitting in a jail cell.
Most people due to that fact would not allow themselves to be in that position.
It is obvious she has serious responsibility issues and most likely substance abuse issues too.
This is not a problem it seems when you have money.
Such is our legal system; it is the best that money can buy.

Oh, bull, she didn't know which entrance to use. You go in, find an office and ASK. She's showing up late and getting kicked out of these programs because she DOESN'T WANT to do community service and she knows there's no consequence for not fulfilling the conditions of her probation, except the bother of going into court occasionally and wailing about how HARD everything is for her and getting another chance.
    • Murdock  •  7 months ago
So now she has to work at the morgue. I hope she doesn't show up with the walking dead look she had in court yesterday, otherwise the staff might mistake her for a corpse, put her on a slab and autopsy her.

She didn't know which entrance to use, so she stood on the sidewalk, mouth agape, frozen with indecision for 40 minutes. Yeah. Right.

how many chances is this women gonna get and how the hell do you show up 40 minutes late to your community service like those people should not even give her a second change to show up on time tomorrow

    • Susa  •  7 months ago
Her "spokesperson" can STOP making F'ing excuses for anytime now! She didn't know what entrance to go in which caused this train wreck to be 40 minutes late? Try asking somebody where the correct entrance is. There are plenty of people around that she could have asked.

"Her spokesman Steve Honig says the actress' tardiness was partially because she didn't know which entrance to the facility to use". I would have found out where the place was exactly the day before. Stupid #$%$!!

Sorry, Lindsay, I'm usually on your side but how could you be 40 minutes late because you couldn't find which entrance to use. Personally, I would have gone into the first one that I located and asked for help. At least they would have known that you were there.
