'Little People' Speak Out on Rosie's 'Anxiety'

'Little People' Speak Out on Rosie's 'Anxiety'

The stars of TLC's Little People, Big World are speaking out about Rosie O'Donnell's "fear and anxiety" around little people.

Speaking to Willie Geist on the Today Show Thursday, Amy Roloff said the remarks saddened her and reflect an attitude held by many other people she's encountered. "I was taken back. I was sad, really, to hear that from someone," she said. "It has been an attitude. To think of yourself in one way and to have someone else think of you that way, it plays on you," Amy added.

But she said O'Donnell's comments did provide an opportunity to educate the public about how many little people are living very successful lives. "Like Matt and I have talked about, it does give us an opportunity to validate what we have done, what other little people have done. There's still work to do and you're never going to get rid of it, totally. But if we can continue to open that door up more, I think it's great.

During an interview with Chelsea Handler on her OWN television show, O'Donnell said: "I'm a little ashamed about it [but] I have a mild fear or anxiety around little people. The problem with me is I can't put the two things together. This is an adult person, a little person ... it's so hard for me."

      I wouldn't be concerned w/what Rosie says - she still thinks 9-11 was a gov't plot & steel can't melt!

It's not like she was trying to mean, just honest. I'm sure being a lesbian she understands how others perceptions can hurt. That doesn't mean you don't talk about it. How else do you fix things?

Jimmy Durante used to say you'd better be nice to all the little people you meet on the way up. You'll meet them again on the way down, maybe sooner than you think. When
Rosie and Oprah fall off the ladder of success they're really going to go splat!!!

People do not choose their fears. Stop being so sensitive and stop calling yourselves little people it sounds studpid. How about people. Why are we announcing our disability as a title?

Being "little people" isn't a disability! In your case, being insensitive is!

ummm what was so disappointing about what she said?? it's her fear, she can't help it just like you can't help being lil! people today need to get a grip, not everyone is going to get along and like the same things or people. that is why the world is so great. we can all appreciate different things. i don't even see why this was an issue, chelsea most likely asked her and she answered. i don't feel comfortable around some physically handicapped people i'm not a bad person because of it, it only makes me human!! no one is perfect! sheesh

When she said "little people" I don't think she was talking about dwarfs. I think she was referring to normal sized people. All people are little people compared to Rosie.

Can't tell from the picture. Do they have on the pointy shoes with the little bell at the end?

Mr & Mrs Roloff, there are far more people that get "anxiety" when they are around over- weight, rude and obnoxious people than there are people who feel that way around people like you. Don't be saddened by Rosie's comments, she'll be just fine.
