Lisa Marie Presley has expressed a strong desire to make a movie about her famous father. After expressing disdain over previous portrayals of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie is aiming to make sure her father's legacy is secure with a fitting film. That means we are going to see another Elvis movie on the horizon. Over the years countless actors have portrayed some version of the legendary singer. Could one of these guys hear their name called for a new movie? It isn't likely but stranger things have happened. Here is a look at some of the noteworthy actors that have played Elvis.
Bruce Campbell - "Bubba Ho-Tep"
Campbell played a geriatric version of the singer in this fun movie about two old-timers that battle a deadly mummy in their retirement home. Elvis moves with a walker and doesn't sing in the movie but his trademark voice and facial expressions are still there. Campbell's version of Elvis probably isn't highly regarded by Lisa Marie or anyone else in the inner circle of Elvis. But to be fair it was one of the better portrayals we will ever see.
Val Kilmer - "True Romance"
Kilmer plays a shadowy version of Elvis in this crime caper written by Quentin Tarantino. In fact he is more or less a ghost that serves as the voice of reason for Christian Slater's character. We don't get to see Kilmer's face clearly in the movie. But we do see him shake some moves and utter some famous Elvis phrases. If the new movie depicts Elvis as a silhouette, Kilmer could be the guy to play the role.
Harvey Keitel - "Finding Graceland"
This movie operates under the assumption that Elvis is still alive. I don't anticipate Lisa Marie embracing that kind of angle. Keitel plays an older man drifting around and taking a road trip to Memphis. Once there he hopes to reclaim his former glory. Keitel is a fine actor but I don't really see another Elvis role in his future.
Kurt Russell - "Elvis"
Russell is pretty familiar with Elvis. He played the role in a television movie in the late 1970s. He also played a thief that dresses up as Elvis and the little regarded heist film "3000 Miles to Graceland" in 2001. This guy knows his way around Elvis lore. Russell might be too old to play Elvis now but he has the right look and the right amount of experience to make a new movie work.
