Lindsay Lohan jeopardizes ‘Liz & Dick’ with car crash

Lindsay Lohan may have busted up more than just her rented Porsche when she crashed it into an 18-wheeler. According to a new report, the actress was strictly prohibited from driving, as part of the insurance policy the production company for her made-for-TV movie “Liz & Dick” took out since she’s had such bad luck behind the wheel between her two DUIs and multiple mishaps on the road. Although Lohan agreed to the stipulation, that didn’t stop her from deciding to drive on June 8 – when she crashed on California’s Pacific Coast Highway on her way to the set. A source explains to TMZ that’s why a chauffeured SUV was following the actress that day … just in case anything happened on her way in to work. The insurance company is still deciding on whether or not to pull the plug on its contract with “Liz & Dick.” If it does, it would greatly jeopardize the film, not to mention the comeback Lohan is so desperate for.

Police are still investigating the crash, but Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department tells E! Online that "speed is most likely a factor — but there could be a lot of different factors that caused the accident. We did measure skid marks on the scene as a result of the accident. Every accident has a determination of fault. In most accidents a citation is issued either on the scene or once the determination of fault is decided. The accident report will be turned over to the insurance companies once they request them. This is routine and takes about 30 days."

And when it comes to the report that a water bottle containing alcohol was discovered at the crash scene, Sgt. Lewis adds that’s not a closed case yet either. He does acknowledge that a plastic bottle was found “in the debris field,” but they do not yet know if it was even related to Lohan’s accident. "Whether or not that bottle came from the car, the truck or was on the street has not been determined," the officer added. "The bottle was collected and the contents of that bottle have not been identified."
