Lindsay Lohan could be in trouble for lying to police
What is it going to take for Lindsay Lohan to realize that she has no place behind the wheel? The fallout from the 25-year-old's car crash Friday could, according to TMZ, cause the court to revoke her probation and possibly even send her back to jail. In case you didn’t hear, Lohan slammed a rented Porsche into an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, California, while on her way to the set of the Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick," in which she's playing Elizabeth Taylor. Lohan's OK physically, but law enforcement sources revealed to TMZ that she broke the law by lying to police. She reportedly claimed to the Santa Monica Police Department officers interviewing her at UCLA Medical Center, where she was examined after the crash, that her assistant was driving. However, the assistant later admitted that Lohan was driving. According to TMZ, witnesses say both Lohan and her assistant climbed out of the car on the passenger side. Police are reportedly writing a report that includes the contradiction.
Lohan, who's legal troubles began with her 2007 DUI arrest, fortunately did manage to escape even more trouble: sources also told the website that police discovered a plastic bottle of alcohol in the trunk of the car. However, Lohan didn't have any alcohol in her system, and keeping an open container in the trunk of a moving car is not illegal.
The "Mean Girls" star claimed that the crash happened because the truck driver, who's only been identified as James, cut her off, but James has argued against that statement. He also said that Lohan's people tried to pay him off at the scene. Too bad her handlers didn't keep her from driving at all. Larry A. Thompson, the movie's executive producer, said the actress is supposed to be chauffeured to the set daily. "When they went to pick her up today, for some reason she decided they would get in her own car, so the limousine driver followed them," Thompson told Deadline.
