There's one more title on the list of books we won't be reading.
Rumor has it, overexposed homewrecker LeAnn Rimes is looking to publish a tell-all book detailing her affair with now-husband Eddie Cibrian. According to the New York Post and the Daily Mail, the singer has been "put[ting] out feelers in the publishing world to find a ghost writer to tell her side of the story."
This news comes less than a month after Cibrian's ex-wife Brandi Glanville announced her intention to publish a memoir. The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star said the chance to tell her story "has been a long time coming," and she confirmed suppositions that it will deal, at least in part, with her divorce.
There's been no official word from Rimes about her possible book deal, but we're thinking that where there's smoke, there's fire.
In 2009, "Northern Lights" costars Rimes (29) and Cibrian (38) engaged in a scandalous and highly-publicized extramarital affair that ended both of their marriages. Rimes and husband Dean Sheremet had no children, but Cibrian and Glanville (39), who were married for 8 years, had two sons - Mason and Jake. After weeks of painfully obvious cheating, LeAnn and Eddie separated from and divorced their respective spouses; the couple announced their engagement in December 2010 and married in April 2011.
Following the affair, Glanville and Rimes engaged in a petulant and juvenile war of words via Twitter, though the two eventually called a truce for the sake of Glanville's two sons. It's hard to say exactly how this attempt at a one-upping will affect the pair's strained relationship, but we think LeAnn's timing speaks volumes about her inability to let things go.
An E! News source says that Rimes "wants it to be a very honest book so she can speak directly to her fans and tell her side of the story." Ironically, it has been Rimes' refusal to simply keep quiet and move on that has generated and fueled much of her negative press; her habit of "getting into it" on Twitter instead of ignoring and rising above has kept her in the news and put a decidedly bad taste in the mouths of many former fans. Her interaction with Glanville completely aside, Rimes has exchanged heated words with followers regarding her weight and eating habits, among other things.
It's time to bury the hatchet, ladies, somewhere other than in each other's backs.
