Country singer LeAnn Rimes, 28, sang the National Anthem at the NCAA championship game wearing a lacy white, form-fitting, Dolce & Gabbana dress. Her voice was perfect. No surprise there. What did surprise us is how skinny, or rather, gaunt, she looked.
When Rimes modeled for the cover of Shape Magazine wearing a red bikini, she looked fit, but healthy. So what happened?
LeAnn Rimes loves the gym. "I'm serious about my exercise. I don't just doodle around," says Rimes. "I see people at the gym talking on their cell phones. If they think their bodies are really going to change...I mean, you've got to put in the effort!"
But how much effort is too much effort? Rimes claims she's a healthy weight. However, images speak louder than words. Is Rimes letting excessive exercise ruin her looks?
Kelly Ripa: If you blow on the 5' 3" star of "Live with Regis and Kelly" hard enough, she might fly away. Kelly Ripa loves her workouts. "I almost gave up in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks someone told me how great my arms looked!" Kelly said.
Fit arms are an admirable thing, but is Kelly fit or too skinny? At 40 years of age, should Ripa think about putting on some pounds to prevent the haggard look? Loose-fitting pants and a black bubble jacket, didn't make her look any bigger.
Sarah Jessica Parker: Almost skin and bones in "Sex and the City" and no bigger in the sequel, the award-winning star has the acting chops, but is Sarah Jessica Parker wasting away, more and more, every year? At 46, Parker is a certified gym rat who is obsessed with working out at least two hours a day, running five miles daily, and eating as lean as she can. Before "Sex and the City 2" premiered, SJP lost 14 pounds from her already tiny frame dropping two dress sizes in two months.
Madonna: The "Material Girl" started exercising years ago. However, today Madonna takes it to a whole new level with workouts that last up to four hours a day. Is the 52-year-old former number one pop diva afraid to grow old?
Says plastic surgeon James Lyons, author of the "Brown Fat Revolution," "If Madonna stopped her compulsively long workouts and gained about fifteen pounds, she would look so spectacular she'd knock your socks off."
Terri Hatcher: Is the 46-year-old actress a desperately thin housewife? Hatcher was photographed jogging in shorts that revealed bony legs and equally bony arms. She's looking like a marathon runner. Not a bad thing, perhaps. But remember her as Lois Lane? Some meat on those bones couldn't hurt.
