Lea Michele is getting more and more brash with her fashion choices. The "Glee" star arrived at the ELLE Women in Hollywood celebration on Monday night wearing a sheer Zimmerman dress with a leotard underneath.
Some critics are freaking out over Michele's fashion choice, but it's hardly more revealing than a one-piece bathing suit. We love the look - and we especially love that she's willing to take risks when it comes to fashion.
It wasn't always that way, though. The Broadway star said she had "sensible" fashion sense growing up in New York and that her "wardrobe in high school was very simple. Jeans and maybe a sweatshirt and sneakers."
Michele made a major impression at the 2010 Emmy Awards in her ruffled Oscar De La Renta dress. The dress loved her body - and she loved it back.
"I just f***ing love that dress. And love the hair; Mark [Townsend] put a lot of light pieces in and did a kind of 60s bump in the back, and Melanie [Inglessis] did a 60s cat-eye. But it was so hot that day.... Well, if you knew what was happening underneath that dress as far as sweat is concerned... oh. My. God," she told The Insider last year.
2012 Golden Globe Awards
If anything, Michele's Marchesa dress for the 2012 Golden Globes was way more risqué than the leotard dress. For one, it was mostly sheer - and she no doubt had to use a lot of double-sided tape to keep her naughty bits from showing.
2010 Screen Actor's Guild Awards
The 2010 People's Choice Awards
One of our favorite Lea looks was created entirely by mistake. The red minidress she wore to the 2010 People's Choice Awards wasn't sent to her by a designer - it was actually just borrowed from a friend.
"I was not aware that I had to go. Thirty minutes before the red carpet, ['Glee' creator] Ryan [Murphy] calls me and says, 'Lea, you have to go.' I'm like, 'I'm sitting on my couch eating a kale salad!' He said, 'It's our first year!'" she recalled to The Insider. "So I called my best friend, borrowed her roommate's dress, and then some people came over and helped me with my hair and makeup."
Sometimes the best looks are happy accidents.
