LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Lady Gaga's inspiration doesn't come from another lady of music - the singer says in high school she wanted to be just like one of music's most famous boys - Boy George.

"This is really who I am and it took a long time to be OK with that," Lady Gaga told Ellen DeGeneres referring to her unique style during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" airing on Friday.

"Maybe in high school you, Ellen, you feel discriminated against," the singer continued. "Like you don't fit in and you want to be like everyone else, but not really, and in the inside, you want to be like Boy George, well, I did any way. So, I want my fans to know that it's OK. Sometimes in life you don't always feel like a winner but that doesn't mean you're not a winner if you want to be like yourself. I want my fans to know it's OK."

The 23-year-old pop star told Ellen the goal of her music is to create a world for those who might feel like "a freak."

"The whole point of what I do, 'The Monster Ball,' the music, the performance aspect of it... I want to create a space for my fans where they can feel free and they can celebrate," she explained. "I didn't fit in high school and I felt like a freak. So I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with and they don't feel alone."

When Boy George was famous, I was 5, (I'm 33). Lady Gaga wasn't even born yet. This article makes no sense. Boy george was basically extint by the time Lady Gaga was able to walk.

Boy George did not do Drag he did Boi in a dress! And he was brilliant at it! Gaga does drag - like this years RuPaul but with less talent. I wonder will he/she age like Boy George or RuPaul? I am leaning toward Boy George - which is pretty darn scary. He/She is out of the closet - but was anyone really surprised? RuPaul is still the Queen of queens.

She's not a man, or so they say because she has a uterus. And I saw pictures of her in high school senior, go look it up and tell me she's still ugly. She just wears a lot of make up, I also saw her with brown hair, she is beautiful. And also pictures with blonde hair too. She's just wearing a LOT of make up that makes her look ugly. But what's the matter if she
