Sad news for fans of Kristin Chenoweth on "The Good Wife": The Broadway veteran has bowed out of her guest role on the show after she was injured on set last month.
"It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife," she told People in a statement on Monday afternoon. "[I'm] getting better slowly, and thank you everyone for your concern."
The actress sustained a head injury when a piece of light equipment hit her during filming on July 11. She was taken to a Brooklyn hospital for her injuries - and it sounds like it was pretty serious, based on her tweets since.
"Today not best "pain" day. Remaining positive. (I think)," she wrote on Aug. 8.
Acting - like all jobs - brings some hazards with it. Chenoweth isn't the first - or the last - celebrity to get injured on set.
Halle Berry also suffered a head injury in July while filming her new movie, "The Hive," in Los Angeles. The actress reportedly cracked her head on the concrete and paramedics were called. Her rep said she "suffered a minor head injury ... She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but she checked out healthy and was released. She'll continue production as planned."
Sounds like she dodged a bullet with that on-set mishap.
Bret Michaels' performance with Poison at the 2009 Tony Awards was almost the last performance he ever did. The singer was leaving the stage after the song and was hit by a portion of the stage. He then suffered a near-fatal brain hemorrhage about six months later. He later sued the organization behind the Tony's, saying in court documents that "one of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma -- exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards."
The lawsuit was settled in May.
Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is a consummate professional: She was hit by a prop while performing in an Australian production of "A Streetcar Named Desire" in 2009 and continued on in the scene, despite a bleeding wound. The rest of the performance was cancelled, but she returned to the show the next night saying she was "absolutely fine."
Talk about dedication to your job!
