Kristen Bell really, really loves sloths, so what better way for her to celebrate her birthday than by hanging around with one of the cheerful-looking critters that love hanging upside down?

Kristen's incredibly thoughtful fiancé Dax Shepard brought one home for a surprise visit on her 31^st birthday, but he was probably a little shocked at how Kristen reacted - instead of squealing with excitement, she completely freaked out and started crying hysterically. Luckily Dax taped the embarrassing (but adorable) ordeal.

Since celebs have an unlimited amount of cash to spend on other stars' birthday bashes, some of them have come up with some almost-as-impressive birthday treats. Here's a look at a few other celebrities' big birthday surprises:

They don't get any bigger than this! Some celebs might not appreciate blogger Perez Hilton's line of work, but last year Katy helped make his carnival-themed 32^nd birthday party one he'll never forget by arriving to it on top of an elephant (wonder if she ever did anything that grand for Russell Brand?).

Blake Lively's Puppy Love

Last October Blake surprised Ryan Reynolds with something almost as adorable as a sloth - in honor of his 35^th birthday, she tied a bunch of balloons to her maltipoo and brought the pup to the set of his movie "R.I.P.D." Most guys probably wouldn't be fans of such a sickeningly sweet surprise (we're looking at you, Leonard DiCaprio), but we'd like to believe that a guy as loveable as Ryan really appreciated the romantic gesture.

What does the Queen of Pop get someone for their birthday? She's got enough money to buy anything, but sometimes some of the best gifts are free - Madge's birthday gift to rapper Nicki Minaj was a kiss. We're fairly certain Britney Spears cried a river after hearing that her Madgesty moved on from their MTV smooch by making out with the rapper.

Nothing says "I love you" like making your man feel inadequate with a pornographic pastry. Miley got boyfriend Liam Hemsworth an adorable birthday gift in the form of a puppy named Ziggy, but she ruined that "awww" moment with a rather raunchy birthday surprise - a cake adorned with a giant male reproductive part (we think you get the picture). Hopefully Liam has a sense of humor.
