Even Kim's sad days have silver linings. When she filed for divorce from husband Kris Humphries last fall, she found no reason to cancel a perfectly fun business trip to Australia.
Despite the fact that some critics of the second oldest Kardashian sister have accused her of being manipulative and phony, the celebutante has managed to remain a media pet.
So what's in the Kimster's secret sauce for remaining relevant? Here are a few of the most crucial ingredients:
She is not afraid to look foolish
The Armenian beauty is not afraid to take fashion risks; like any daredevil dresser, she has her share of bad outfit days. Most recently, she gave herself a fashion police ticket for wearing a boxy yellow jacket that made her look squat. "I wanted a little color while I'm living in Miami, so my intentions were good, but the cut isn't for me!" she admitted in her blog. "You definitely need to be taller and thinner to pull this jacket style off!" Many women can relate to wearing something they love even though it doesn't love them back.
She knows how to grab headlines
When it comes to making news, the petite star should be given an honorary Ph.D. in public relations. From her hyped romances to her stiletto clad feet's magnetic attraction to red carpets, hardly a day goes by that lacks a KimK story angle. Since her sex tape was "leaked" in 2007, the curvy brunette has been one of Google's most searched celebrities every year. On a slow news day in April she pretended she wanted to run for mayor of Glendale, and the media took her claim seriously. She even hijacked the headlines for adoring her cat, a feat that ordinary women perform every day.
She hangs out with other celebrities
Kardashian learned an important lesson from momager Kris Jenner when she was young: who you know counts more than what you know. Her first bestie, Paris Hilton, introduced her to the Hollywood party crowd and from there she became more connected than a pearl necklace. Rarely do you see Kim communing with commoners. She either hangs with her now-famous family or celebrities like Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato and Ryan Seacrest. Even her BFF Brittny Gastineau had her own reality TV show on E! called "The Gastineau Girls."
She seems to really love her four sisters
Perhaps the most endearing thing Kardashian has going for her is her fondness for her family -- especially her sisters. When Kylie Jenner tweeted, "Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of," Kim tweeted back, "I have lots of best friends!" -- and her reply even seemed sincere.
