Keri Hilson recently made headlines for a scary "Bodyguard" moment on stage at a gig in Europe. An excited fan ran on stage hoping to give Keri a little sugar on the cheek. But it got ugly very fast. And it's reported that the "Pretty Girl Rock" singer took a misguided blow during the chaos. She's taken the incident in stride, even sympathizing with her eager paramour.
Apparently, this sort of thing is pretty common. Fans simply can't contain themselves when they're merely inches away from their favorite stars. In some clips, they look like crazed zombies---the animated fans stumbling towards their celebrity targets, arms outstretched, mouths drooling…
Like Hilson's friendly attacker, some are so infatuated that they just go for it---no matter what. Certainly that would be true of one woman who grabbed hold of Enrique Iglesias' legs as he crooned in concert in Los Angeles.
A similar thing happened to Miley Cyrus in June 2011, when an excited fan ran onto the stage and hugged her from behind. The Hannah Montana actress was clearly stunned. But her security team responded in kind-swiftly removing her before things got out of hand.
There must be something about pop stars that makes them irresistible to emotional fans. But by emotional---we mean, completely "slizzard." One drunken fan didn't think anyone would mind if he danced with Britney Spears in the middle of her "Womanizer" performance. He thought wrong.
But things get even weirder…
While playing a show in Milan, Italy Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash was bum-rushed on stage by a half-naked, slightly bloodied fan. But in this case, he practically tackled the rocker from behind managing to crack his Gibson guitar before tumbling off the stage.
In 2010, Kid Cudi was attacked while performing in Ohio. A man jumped onto the stage and put his hands on the "Day 'n' Nite" rapper. Cudi stormed off the stage to confront the guy, and a melee in the crowd ensues before he's finally hauled away. (Sheesh!)
And speaking of rappers, who would have ever thought that someone would step to tough-guy 50 Cent? Nonetheless, it happened in Brazil in 2010. Again, a swift crew snatched the guy away before he could do any damage---or have any done to him.
But sometimes the celebs aren't so lucky. As was the case for internet star Tila Tequila, who was pelted with all sorts of offensive stuff by a belligerent crowd at an Illinois music festival. Unfortunately, some of that stuff turned Tequila's face into a bloody mess.
Come to think of it, these on-stage gaffs make "The Bodyguard" look like an episode of Saved by the Bell.
