Hank Baskett spent weeks shopping for the perfect engagement ring for fiancee Kendra Wilkinson.

"I wanted something unique just like Kendra," the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver tells Celebuzz. "I wanted to get something she hadn't seen anywhere."

But every time he showed up to shop at Bernie Robbins Fine Jewelers near his New Jersey home, "Kendra would just happen to call me then. Every time! I would be like, I'm getting my computer worked on, I'm at the shoe store. I made something up.

"I had to be sneaky about it because Kendra's a little inspector, always picking up clues," adds Baskett, 26.

He finally selected a 2 1/4-carat princess-cut diamond surrounded by 60 diamonds "so that you can see it from all angles," he explains.

"I'd keep it in my safe. And I'd look at it every day before practice, then I'd clean it. I'd come home from practice and still clean it. No one else touched it, but I still cleaned it."

Baskett admits he was nervous before popping the question last November,

"I honestly felt this was the one. But there was still a lot of nerves," he says. "Like my god, I hope she likes this."

Wilkinson, 23, says she never gave Baskett any advice about what kind of bling she'd like.

"I had nothing to do with [the ring selection]," Wilkinson says. "I didn't even know he was proposing."

Wilkinson will wed Baskett in a dress she designed at the Playboy mansion on June 27.

"I hope it turns out good," she told Us last month. "I'm nervous -- I don't like the 80's prom look. I like a simple look -- and it's hard to find it."
