Despite having a different last name than media magnets Khloe, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner are expected to follow in their half-sisters' stilettoed footsteps, according to the teaser on the March cover of Teen Vogue. Adjacent to the clean-cut shot of two teens wearing Michael Kors popsicle color pink and lime green dresses reads the ominous headline: "kendall & kylie jenner: KARDASHIANS IN TRAINING!"
Whether the little sisters of the Kardashian clan will grow up to be like the rest of their scandal-ridden reality TV family remains to be seen. Excerpts from their interview with Teen Vogue reveal that Kris Jenner's two youngest daughters are relatively unfazed by their fame.
Of the two, Kendall seems to be the less materialistic teen. "In school, I'll wear jeans, a sweatshirt, and Uggs, and she'll wear, like, this whole ensemble that she put together the night before," said the 16-year-old big sister of the difference in their personal styles.
Notably, Kendall was also the bizarro Kardashian who complained that her mother was making too big a deal about her 16th birthday party. According to E! Online, the momager wanted a Bahamas blowout with 75 of her daughter's "closest" friends, but the more modest Kendall fought to have her Sweet 16 shindig at a local hotel and requested her guests bring toys for sick kids at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.
"For my mom to be like, 'Oh, we're going to have this huge extravagant party,' and to think those kids can't even go to a party because they're sitting in a hospital bed, it's just really sad," Kendall said on the cable network's reality TV show that follows the Kardashian-Jenner family's every move.
Kid sister, Kylie, meanwhile, seems to be a scooch more Kardashian-ish. At 14, she already owns a pair of "sky-high Louboutins" and cops to being a shopaholic. "When I come home with a new bag of stuff, oh my god, it feels so good," she told Teen Vogue.
Both girls complained to reporter Alison Prato about pesky paparazzi and ridiculous tabloid rumors. Last fall, for instance, the Us Weekly website showed Kylie merely walking with Australian teen heart-throb Cody Simpson in a shopping center and jumped to the crazy conclusion, "Kylie Jenner Dating Singer Cody Simpson!"
But being a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family also has its benefits. Both girls have walked in New York Fashion Week and have whale-sized closets with "rows of shoes" and "drawers that hold enough sunglasses to make Rihanna jealous," according to the Teen Vogue reporter.
So far Teen Vogue readers are giving the celebuteens a tentative thumbs-up for being more down to earth than their real-life soap opera sisters. The trio recently posed topless in an ad for their Sears Kardashian Kollection jeans.
Gushed one fan commenting on the magazine's sneak peek of its March 2012 issue: "They (Kendall and Kylie) are SO beautiful! i loved this and OMG its nice to see that they aren't like all stuck up and snooty and that they actually have personalities."
