LONDON, U.K. -- Kelly Osbourne was arrested earlier this year for allegedly slapping a reporter in a London nightclub last summer, according to People.

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed the arrest, however, would not confirm Osbourne's identity.

"I can confirm that a 24-year-old woman attended a central London police station by appointment at 3 PM on January 2," the Scotland Yard official said. "She was arrested for common assault relating to an alleged incident in Soho in the early hours of August 29, 2008."

Authorities also said the woman was released on bail and is scheduled to return to the central London police station in March.

The alleged incident reportedly involved Osbourne and U.K. gossip columnist Zoe Griffin, who slammed Osbourne's boyfriend, Luke Worrall in one of her columns.

In an article for The Daily Mirror, titled "How I Was Lamped By Kelly Osbourne," Griffin claims Osbourne approached her in the London nightclub, Punk, and "clonked me in the face."

"She began ear-bashing me about two lines in my column when I wrote her model boyfriend Luke Worrall had to ask friends how an earthquake was caused," Griffin wrote.

According to Griffin, Osbourne approached her and said "I have an issue with you. My boyfriend knows what an earthquake is and everyone has been laughing at him and he's upset."

After a brief exchange, Griffin said she "felt a hard slap to my right cheekbone."

When contacted by Access Hollywood, a personal rep for Osbourne was not immediately available for comment.

    Reporters know they deserve more than a slap for alot of the mean things they do to celebrities. As joe public we see the glamour of our idols but being in the spotlight must be hard and it wears them down. Give them some room to breathe and maybe they will be able to be more creative if we leave them be from time to time.
