Kelly Clarkson to Encourage Continued Learning in TV Special

School's back in session for singer Kelly Clarkson and basketball player LeBron James.

The celebs have partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom to promote the National Education Initiative in a 30-minute TV special airing Sept. 8 on select Viacom outlets.

Aimed at encouraging continued education, the Get Schooled: You Have the Right special will chronicle the lives of the driven young adults who work with Clarkson and James behind-the-scenes on a daily basis.

Clarkson -- who is currently on the road with her All I Ever Wanted concert tour -- applauds the initiative's efforts.

"Lots of young people run into problems beyond their control, like finances, that keep them from pursuing their education," Clarkson tells Usmagazine.com in a statement. "At that point, it's easy to give up. But I believe it's important to continue to work hard and learn from everyone and everything around you."

Get Schooled: You Have the Right airs Sept. 8 at 8 p.m./ET on BET, MTV, VH1, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike TV and Nickelodeon.
