Katy Perry sure likes to stand out with her new blue hairstyle and sometimes outrageous outfits, but the 27-year-old told Teen Vogue in a recent interview that she finds fame "disgusting." The "I Kissed A Girl" singer is frequently in the headlines, and even more so with her recent split from husband Russell Brand.
The comments do seem a bit strange considering the attention-getting ensembles she likes to wear, but the "Part of Me" singer said, 'I'm tired of being famous already! But I'm not tired of creating. Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do," adding, "It's quite a delicate creature-- it's a wild animal of sorts. It can love you, and then it can attack you.''
Do you feel sorry for her yet? According to Forbes magazine, the natural brunette is worth at least $44 million. If she decided she'd rather skip the fame, we're pretty sure she could find a decent place to live far away from paparazzi and her hectic Hollywood lifestyle.
We don't think she'll be leaving Tinseltown anytime soon! Of course, Perry is not the first to declare an aversion to fame.
In 2010, Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe declared celebrity an "unfortunate by product of what I do." The actor added, " Whatever used to be called mystery, you're not allowed to have that any more. So there's a whole bunch of blank space that's filled in with stuff that fills up pages of newspapers."
The downside of fame has not kept the 47-year-old from staying away from the movie set. He's currently filming the big screen version of "Les Miserables," with co-star Hugh Jackman and has been tweeting about his extensive workouts that are keeping him in shape for the role of Inspector Javert.
"Twilight" star Robert Pattinson has spoken about his fear of fame. In 2009 as he propelled to the top he remarked, "It worries me, because the whole Twilight thing keeps getting bigger and bigger, and now it's so big that even my own ego can't cope with it…A certain amount of success you can mentally deal with, but there's a point where you think, ' Jesus Christ , what is this? I'm not that great!' "
The sexy 25-year-old has reached even greater heights in Hollywood over the last few years and he seems to be handling it fairly well so far. Those who lust after the "Water for Elephants" actor probably don't have to worry about him leaving anytime soon either!
