It looks like the Katy Perry and Russell Brand romance might not be dead after all. According to a report, the purple-haired singer is interested in winning back the affections of her estranged husband. "Katy's been trying to get him back," said a friend of Perry's to US Weekly. The couple wed in India in 2010 and her recent trip there might have been responsible for the apparent change of heart. Will the couple reunite? It's anyone's guess because another friend of the "Firework" singer says that the two aren't likely to take another shot at romance. "Right now, Katy and Russell are trying to get to the point where they can at least be friends," says the other source. If the two decide to give it another go they would be joining some other famous couples that reconciled after a split. Here is a look at some of those relationships that Katy might look to for inspiration.
The "Transformers" star began dating the "Beverly Hills 90210" alum when she was just 18 years old. The couple got engaged in 2006 but announced a surprising split in early 2009. By the following summer they were not only engaged again but ended up getting hitched in a secret Hawaii ceremony. It seems that the two stars were just meant to be with one another. "I truly feel like he's my soul mate," said the stunning actress of her husband in 2012. "I don't want to sound corny or cliché, but I do believe we are destined to live this part of our lives together."
The popular singer married the extreme sports star in 2006 but their romance seemingly hit the skids when they separated in 2008. After nearly a year apart, the two began the process of reconciliation. 'We're rebuilding," said the X Games athlete. "Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards to move forward." Since getting back together, things have gone pretty well for the couple. They welcomed their first child in 2011 and celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary in January.
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton
The two-time Oscar winning actress was also a two-time bride of actor Richard Burton. Their first marriage lasted from 1964 to 1974 and was the longest of her eight marriages. After divorcing, the couple reconciled in 1975 and had a much shorter second marriage before calling it quits again. Had the actor not died in 1984, there might have been hope for a third union between the two screen legends. "I was still madly in love with him until the day he died," said the actress of her most famous lover.
