Katie Holmes Talks Family, Vampire Films & Why Tom Sometimes Dresses Her

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- With a career on both the big screen and Broadway and a busy life in the Hollywood spotlight - Katie Holmes has a lot on her plate - including making sure her family comes first.

"In my own life, my whole world really revolves around family," the 30-year-old actress told ELLE in its November issue. "I do what I need to do, but it's like, 'How is everybody else doing?' And it's wonderful for me as an actress to put some of that into a character."

Katie said daughter Suri, 3, enjoyed seeing mom hard at work while she starred on Broadway in "All My Sons" in fall 2008.

"Suri would sit in my lap in the makeup chair. She'd hand the wig lady the bobby pins," she recalled.

Tom & Katie's daughter has been making headlines recently for her chic toddler wardrobe, and it appears the little apple didn't fall far from the tree.

"I love Alaa, for sure. Stella McCartney. I like Ralph Lauren because I feel like it's very American, and I'm pretty all-American, from Ohio," Katie said when asked which designers she loves. "Isabel Marant and a new designer, Sari Gueron."

And husband Tom also appears to have the fashion bug - along with being known to offer up his thoughts on Katie's apparel.

"Tom has great taste," she said of the 47-year-old. "He usually likes everything [I wear], but sometimes I'll walk out and he'll say, 'I think that dress might be wearing you. You don't need that.'"

And when it comes to film fads, Katie admitted that she's not immune to Hollywood's current vampire craze.

"It can be any genre," she said when asked about what types of films suck her in. "I even like vampire movies - they just have to be well done. I want to believe in the characters. The minute it starts to feel not real, I'm not interested."

    OK I guess none of you have a husband who actually wants you to look good. My husband helps me once and while pick out something for me in the same since that Katie was saying. Sometimes something we might think looks good on us, but might not look good to everyone else. Its called critiquing from a mans point of view and just b/c he helps pick out her clothes don't make him gay people!

    Katie, Why do you let your husband rule your life, do you see what he's doing??? Pick your own clothes, do you pick his. Stop letting him take over your mind. Think for yourself and both of you STOP CARRYING THAT CHILD AROUND SHE HAS TWO FEET.
