Katherine Heigl Talks Oscar Style, Baby Plans & Having Jack Nicholson Call Her 'Sugar'

By Access HollywoodFebruary 25, 2008, 1:10 pm PST

Red was the color of choice by many leading ladies at Sunday's Oscars, but no one wore it better than "Knocked Up" star Katherine Heigl. The beautiful blonde was Access Hollywood's number one Style Star and Nancy O'Dell delivered the news personally.

"You know, you won Access Hollywood's number one Best Dressed!" Nancy explained.

"Yay!" Katherine screamed. "That's awesome!"

"Do you have an acceptance speech?" Nancy asked.

"I'm so very grateful to all those who voted for me, who believed in me, who brought me here today," Katherine smiled. "I wouldn't be who I am without them. Yay!"

Our oh-so-gracious Style Star was still rocking her red Escada after the show, poolside at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, while Nancy O'Dell slipped into something a little more comfortable.

"I did leave my diamond earrings on, with my sweats," Nancy revealed of her post-Oscars, cotton attire.

"Yes! Very fancy," Katherine smiled. "That's what I do at home."

And speaking of home, Katherine revealed in our interview that she is looking to expand her own.

After just two months of marriage to rocker Josh Kelley, the couple is planning their first pregnancy.

"I say I want to start in like July," Katherine revealed. "He's saying the following July. I'm thinking maybe a compromise - sometime in December."

For now though, Katherine is still indulging in having attended and presented at the Oscars.

After Sunday's ceremony, the star admitted she was stunned to have been in such superstar company.

"It was kind of surreal," she said of her evening. "I just felt very out of my league, you know? I was sitting behind Cate Blanchett and Jack Nicholson and sitting next to Renee Zellweger. I kind of wanted to get out my iPhone and take pictures."

"I know Jack can be a ladies' man. Did he give you a little wink?" Nancy asked Katherine.

"A little bit," she enthused. "He called me sugar a couple of times. I was very excited about it. In fact, I might have to tell everyone I know that Jack Nicholson called me sugar."

I like treacle and inconsequentialities... I worship at the altar of frivolity... and ham sandwiches...

did you say jack nicholson, the die-hard-laker-fan called you sugar? well, take it as an honor. the reason why he was there is because there was no laker game. (lol) otherwise, even morgan freeman, the guy in jack's bucket list, can't stop him. missing a laker game to jack is UNPARDONABLE SIN! AY YAY YAY!

Lady - I agree with you! Love Comes Softly and Loves Enduring Promise - she was wonderful in both. She's sweet, calm and a breath of fresh air in Hollywood. For someone to say they feel blessed and grateful (as she has in past interviews) offers a glimpse into her soul. She's not fake at all.

Excuse me, but she is a beautiful actress, refreshing, and has a very sunny disposition. And for anyone who says she was only good in knocked up, watch Love Comes Softly- which is amazing, thank you very much : )
