Kate Winslet to Receive French 'Caesar' Award -- Her 5 Best Movie Roles

Actress Kate Winslet will receive a "Caesar" in February.

Actress Kate Winslet has an Oscar, two BAFTAs, two Golden Globes, and now she'll add another trophy to the wall. The French Academy of Cinematic Arts and Techniques holds their version of the Academy Awards every year, handing out their "Caesar" awards. This year, Kate, who is currently starring in Roman Polanski's "Carnage," will be given an honorary Caesar from the French film group.

At just 36-years-old, Winslet has developed into one of the most respected actresses of her generation. She seems to have chameleon-like abilities to inhabit the skin of nearly any character she's asked to portray. Further endearing her to movie goers is the fact that she has a very genuine and down to Earth personality, that at least makes her seem to be very approachable.

Though still very young, Kate has already given some amazing and diverse performances. Here now are her five best.

Marianne Dashwood in "Sense and Sensibility" (1995) - Sure. Jane Austen films are a rite of passage for most British film actors these days. However, in Kate's performance of the 17-year-old Marianne, there was an authenticity and spirit that translated into Kate's very first Academy Award nomination.

Rose Dewitt Bukater in "Titanic" (1997) - If you haven't seen this film by now, you are either purposely avoiding it, or you were living in a bomb shelter underground for the last 15 years. Kate's performance as Rose, the betrothed young woman who finds a real if not fleeting love with the penniless but adventurous artist Jack gave Kate another Oscar nomination.

Sylvia Davies in "Finding Neverland" (2004) - As the mother in a family that inspired J.M. Barrie to write "Peter Pan," Kate steps into an emotional roller coaster and gives a fantastic performance. Strangely, Kate's performance was not one of the seven Oscar nominations the film received. Her co-star, none other than Johnny Depp, was given an Academy Award nomination and the film itself was also nominated for Best Picture.

Iris Murdoch in "Iris" (2001) - In a performance that earned her yet another Oscar nomination, Kate was given the chance to play the young version of Dame Judi Dench's character in the film. The true story of a woman's love affair with an author, it was no small task to essentially match one of Britain's finest actresses note for note, playing the younger version of the central character. Kate was certainly up to the task and showed that she can certainly keep up with the best of the best.

Clementine in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004) - Michel Gondry directed this phenomenal dissection of what makes relationships tick. The film asks its viewers whether they would rather have scarred and bitter memories of a relationship that was once great, or to have all memory of that person wiped from your mind forever. Both Kate and Jim Carrey give two of the best performances of their career, and the in-camera effects make it a modern classic.
