Kate Middleton will grace the cover of the February/March issue of Scouting magazine. The Duchess of Cambridge announced earlier this month that she had chosen the scouts as one of her four charities, and will also volunteer as a Scout Leader.
The 30-year-old and her little sister Pippa were both brownies as children, and she reportedly chose the charity due to her love of the outdoors and enjoyment of working with children. The beautiful duchess will get to stay near her home in Wales and teach children ages six to ten how to cook, make campfires and play games. She'll even get involved in some of their fun outdoor activities such as zorbing, canoeing, archery, climbing and abseiling.
This sounds so perfect for the newlywed, we only wish we could join in the fun! Inside the magazine, adventurer-broadcaster Bear Grylls pays tribute to Middleton's volunteer work commenting, "It is how we change our society: many people doing a little bit."
How true that is, but Princess Kate seems to be doing quite a bit more than a little! She's incredibly busy with her life among the British Royals and the many charities that she supports.
We think the scouts just may be her favorite charity with her obvious fondness for nature and the great outdoors. Last summer she and Prince William were seen paddling a canoe in the Canadian wilderness. The blushing bride and her thoughtful husband, who planned the surprise adventure, headed to Eagle Island where they cooked over a campfire in the peace and solitude. When they returned, they described their evening as "magical."
The couple, of course, were engaged while on a ten-day African safari in Kenya in the fall of 2010, an outdoor wilderness wonderland. Earlier this week, the duchess was joined by William on the Caribbean island of Mustique where they're said to be enjoying horseback riding, scuba, snorkeling and tennis.
There is no doubt that Middleton made a perfect choice in her dedication to the Scouts, and we think the girl and boy scouts as well as their younger counterparts, the Beavers, are probably quite pleased with her as well.
