Kate Middleton would seem to have it all: gorgeous looks, a castle to live in, and a Prince for a husband. She can pretty much spend on clothes and beauty treatments at will, and yet we often see Duchess Catherine - gasp - re-wearing an outfit she's been photographed in before.Recycling: What's the Big Deal?
"So what?" you ask. "I re-wear clothes all the time."
Sure. But you're not going to be the future Queen of England. It's refreshing to see a member of the monarchy serve as an example of common sense, if not outright frugality.Kate's Favorite Recycled Outfits
Like most of us, Catherine has some outfits she likes more than others. Some are worn once, never to be seen again.
Others, like this black lace Temperly gown, are clearly favorites. Kate wore it to the January 2012 premiere of the film "War Horse," and again at a November 2012 party. She did change the look a bit in November by adding a pop of color with a red purse. Love the dress? It can be yours for a cool $3995 from Net-a-Porter. Like Kate, you can wear it more than once.
Kate doesn't just wear her ball gowns multiple times, she also has several every day dresses she loves. Kate wore this classic pink dress by Emilia Wickstead twice within an 11-day period in May 2012, to a garden party with mom-in-law Camilla and Windsor Castle lunch with hubby Prince William. Again, she changed up her look by wearing a hat one day, and wearing different shoes on the two occasions.Recyling a Second-Hand Outfit
Fashion icon Kate has taken her clothing frugality a step further: she shops at second-hand stores!
She found favorite a favorite blue Missoni coat at Bicester Village, an outlet mall. She has also been spotted shopping at The Stock Exchange, a second-hand store near her family's home in Bucklebury.
The Missoni coat was originally from the designer's 2010 line. Kate has been spotted wearing it adorned with yellow daffodils, and at other times with a navy hat.
Next time you reach for an outfit you've worn before, imagine Kate doing the same thing. Royalty: they're just like us - right?
