Kate Middleton isn't like most new celebrity moms. She didn't get to hide away at home while a personal trainer helped her work at banishing her pregnancy belly, only to emerge as her old svelte self a few weeks later. Instead she stepped out and smiled at the world while embracing her "mummy tummy."
Sadly, K-Middy's middle sparked at least one story about how she'll lose her pregnancy weight. OK! Magazine published a story instructing the Duchess of Cambridge on how she can return to her "pre-pregnancy glory." So joy over Kate's big belly reveal was replaced with anger at OK! and calls to boycott the magazine. According to BBC News, the mag responded to the backlash by releasing a statement that read in part, "We would not dream of being critical of her [Kate's] appearance." But it was sending Middleton a message that it's time for her to work on changing her appearance.
Kate Middleton isn't the only celeb who is feeling the pressure to bounce back after giving birth. Us Weekly reports that Kim Kardashian will debut her post-pregnancy bod on Kris Jenner's talk show, but it doesn't sound like the new mom is ready to rock a bikini just yet.
Mama Jenner used some of her time on "Kris" to deny rumors that Kim has already shed 50 pounds. According to Hollywood Life, this is what she told co-host Ryan Seacrest: "She is working hard. She's not there yet, and if she were there already, it would be freaky weird." But it's not hard to see why Kim is working so hard to lose the weight ASAP -- after dealing with out-of-control criticism of her pregnancy weight gain, she's probably ready to prove to the "bully-ish" haters that she's capable of bouncing back. However, contrary to previous reports, her weight loss plan does not include a Weight Watchers endorsement deal that will put even more pressure on her to slim down.
Shakira is another celebrity who felt like she needed to lose her pregnancy weight fast. "I have a career, and that's the only part that's been a bit stressful because I knew that I'd have to come back here to do 'The Voice' two months after I delivered a baby," she told Us Weekly. "I didn't have my four months maternity like every woman on Earth has." However the beauty, known for baring her belly, didn't need a lot of time off to get back in shape -- two months later, she was showing off her honest hips in a pair of tight leather pants.
During an interview with Shape, Beyonce also complained about her lack of time to slim down. "I didn't have a lot of time to lose the weight because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again," she said. She still managed to drop 57 pounds fast, and just ten weeks after giving birth, her intense diet and exercise routine had her looking amazing at a fundraiser for Barack Obama.
While these celebs haven't embraced their "mummy tummies" like Kate, at least women can take comfort in knowing that they had to work extremely hard to get their bodies back. But then you've got super-skinny celebs like the freak of nature that is Megan Fox, a hot momma knows just what to say to make other women feel really bad about their bodies. This is what she told "Access Hollywood" about how she lost her pregnancy weight: "My baby was kind of small and my pregnancy was small -- I walked out of the hospital kind of like this." So there's one more good reason to applaud Kate's perfectly normal pregnancy belly.
