Babymoon on Mustique
William and Kate appear to be indulging in the recent trend of couples taking a "babymoon" vacation prior to the birth of a baby. But it's no quick weekend at a B&B for the royals. They are spending time at the private tropical island of Mustique in the Caribbean, relaxing in style at the $25,000 per week Aurora Villa. Kate's parents and siblings, James and Pippa, have also come along for the trip.
The island evidently wasn't as private as the royals hoped: a bikini-clad Kate, showing the teeniest of "bumps," was photographed walking the beach with Prince William. A palace spokesman spoke out against the "breach of the couple's right to privacy," but the Australian and Italian media outlets planning to publish the photos disagreed.
"As Australians, we see this every day," said the Australian Woman's Day editor. "We see pregnant women in bikinis on the beach - and a public one at that - so we are a lot less sensitive here … there is no photographer hiding in the bushes and she is not inside a private villa."
The photos come just months after a prior media frenzy over topless photos of the duchess published in the same magazine. The publication of these photos reportedly left Prince William feeling "very bruised."Princess Diana Bikini Photos
Buckingham Palace saw history repeating itself. William's mother, the late Princess Diana, was photographed 31 years ago, in February 1982, while wearing a bikini and vacationing on Windermere ("the Mustique of the Bahamas"). She was pregnant with William at the time, and Buckingham Palace decried the photos as "tasteless behaviour."
