Kara DioGuardi Added As Fourth 'Idol' Judge

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Make room for one more at the "American Idol" judges' table.

Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi is set to join Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson as a fourth judge as the show enters its eighth season, Access Hollywood has learned.

"We are turning the heat up on 'Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in a statement released to Access. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."

Kara has writing credits on hundreds of songs, including the Jonas Brothers' "Play My Music," Faith Hill's "Lost," and tracks by artists ranging from Britney Spears to Kylie Minogue.

    I keep reporting these as Spam. They are fake websites full of spyware, viruses, and more spam, with no more celebrities on them than the weekly grocery store ads. Report them using the report abuse link. Then choose spam as the type of abuse. Maybe if we all do it they will get blocked.

    I like it the way it is, without a fourth person. The chemistry between Paula and Simon is what pulls this off. Another woman will just complicate things. Who is she going to flirt with, or are they going to quit doing that, which was funny and interesting to the show. It will also allow 2-2 votes, what then?
