She may be beautiful, but actress Jessica Biel says fiance Justin Timberlake is the brains behind her look.
In the August issue of InStyle, the 30-year-old star lauds her husband-to-be's fashion sense, saying "He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design." Shockingly, she also admitted, "He has better taste than I do."
The couple have been dating since 2007, though they broke up in March 2011 before getting back together a few months later; they announced their engagement in January.
Despite being named the "Sexiest Woman Alive" by Esquire back in 2005, the "Illusionist" actress relies on Justin for help picking out clothes. Biel confessed that she checks with Timberlake (31) after dressing every morning to see if her choices get a thumbs-up. Says the former "7th Heaven" star, "He goes like this [shakes her head no], then he picks again. It's hilarious."
As for the vintage-style, square-cut engagement ring Justin gave his future wife, Biel says she had "no say whatsoever" in the design and that she didn't "micromanage" Timberlake's creative genius. It sounds like Justin knows what he likes and Jessica seems content to let him have his way.
While we're all for offering opinions and giving input, the pair's fashion situation sounds alarmingly like that of another celeb couple: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
In a 2009 interview with Elle, Katie famously shared that Tom often critiqued her clothing selections. Said the soon-to-be single mom, "He usually likes everything, but sometimes I'll walk out and he'll say 'I think that dress might be wearing you. You don't need that.'" Holmes was quick to add, "Tom has great taste." We're guessing that Tom's advice got old after a while, and we can't help but wonder if Jessica will eventually tire of seeking Justin's approval.
Another ill-fated couple had a similar arrangement.
In 2006, "Dark Knight Rises" actress Anne Hathaway claimed that her then-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri made decisions regarding her wardrobe. The then-24-year-old gushed, "I go to my boyfriend for help to pick out everything. He is Italian so he has the perfect taste." Unfortunately, his taste in fashion was better than her taste in men. Follieri was arrested and sentenced to prison for wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering, leaving Anne to make laundry decisions on her own.
While we think Justin and Jessica make a great couple, we hope they each get a fair say in the decision-making process so their relationship can go the distance.
