Justin Bieber Talks Sex, Drugs and Turning 18

Justin Bieber Talks Sex, Drugs and Turning 18

He may be on the brink of adulthood, but Justin Bieber isn't ready to let go of his past.

In V Magazine's spring preview issue, the 17-year-old singer admits that while "people need to know I'm not a kid anymore," he doesn't feel "completely grown-up" just yet. "I'm still learning."

Unlike so many teen singers before him, Bieber hopes to maintain his squeaky clean image for at least a few more years.

"I'm not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace," Bieber, who turns 18 on March 1, says. "I don't want to start singing about things like sex, drugs and swearing. I'm into love, and maybe I'll get more into making love when I'm older. But I want to be someone who is respected by everybody."

The "Baby" singer -- who's been dating 19-year-old Selena Gomez for more than a year -- says he hopes to have a career similar to Michael Jackson.

"I want to be successful and be great at what I do. But eventually, I want to become the best at what I do," Bieber explains. "I want to be better than anybody who's ever done it. And in order to do that, I need to strive to be the best, be good to people and treat people with respect, and work as hard as I can. Because for me, I work so hard and this consumes my life -- it's not worth it if I'm not the best."

Despite his massive success, Bieber knows he's not beloved by everyone.

PHOTOS: How Justin stays in shape

"When I was coming up, trying to get to where I am now, people were so happy for me. They were rooting for me. Now that I'm on top, everyone wants to bring me down. Everyone's trying to tug at me and take my spot," Bieber complains. "A lot of people say they hate Justin Bieber who haven't even listened to my music. They just hate the idea of me."

People say that they hate him but don't but don't bring him down , he has made his dream come true and let him still have his dream. Hes not different from any of us he is just trying to be himself and nobody should hate him because of that , we just shouldn't hate him at all. I will always be a Justin Bieber fan no matter what he does so everybody needs to STOP bringing him down and just support him.

He is NOT like Miley Cyrus. I am NOT a big fan of her but i respect her as a person! I am GLAD to hear that he is saying these things! Haters just hate because they have nobody to love, dont bring him down he beliveved in his dream and look where he is now! #NeverSayNever ;)

I agree that he might be a good kid. But, he seems way egotistical to me. Comparing himself to a future career like Michael Jackson? Seriously? I admit that the kid does have some talent, but he's just getting started in his "career". A pop tart star with a teenie bopper following as a majority of his fan base will have a tough time being taken seriously as a true artist in later years. As someone posted earlier: "respect has to be earned...it isn't given out for free". Keep your clean image, work on vocals instead of relying so heavily on auto-tuning, and you just might make it kiddo.

JB you are a good kid and there are people out there who respect you for being someone a child could look up to. That and your religious beliefs make me respect what you do.

Justin is right! There's so many people out there speaking nothing but HATE about him. It's a shame I look on here and people are saying such nasty things about this 17 yr old. I will continue to support Justin Bieber and his talents. My daughter and I will be at his next concert he does here! When people are doing well someone has nothing going on for themselves want to see people fail. That's pitiful! Step yo game up...Justin has! He's going to continue to make millions! Go Justiin!

Justin, don't let anyone change you! There will always be people that will talk about you. Part of it is the business you're in. You need not go far to read that, just read the comments on this tread. You are fine young man, although I'd be pleased to see the jeans up where they belong, but that's your business. Keep being an example to this young generation and be BOLD about your faith as you're doing! Seek encouragement from those that love you. You'll never please everyone.! God bless you!

Agreed! If you ever seen a interview with him you would know.. he corrects someone when they say he is lucky.. he is blessed! and he knows God gave him all of this and he stays humble and loyal to his faith and God! No other 17 yr. old celebrity is as amazing as him for all in which he stands for! :)

One thing that he will come to realize as an adult is that not everyone will ever like or respect him. Not everyone will think he is talented. Not everyone will think whatever he thinks they should or want them to.
Some people HAVE listened to his music, do not like it and do not think he has an ounce of talen. That's life!

IIv been dealing with a lot of bad kids, and bullies at my kids school , one child even cussed me out like he was a adult! It's about time these kids get a good role model to look up to. Maybe his good behavior will rub off on others. Keep up the Great Work Justin!

I can't tell if u were being positive or negative, but he said he knows he's still young

His words are as follows from the quote below... "people need to know I'm not a kid anymore," and so on ...
My statement is not a positive or a negative ... it's a fact. Seventeen and eighteen year olds are still kids. Maybe if he were 25 making this statement I would feel a bit differently, but he is a teenager not a man. He doesn't feel "completely grown up just yet" and he is "still learning" because he is still a kid.

Actually I think you're wrong there.
I'm 18. I work 40 hours a week in a cube the size of my closet. When I get off work, I go to school for phlebotomy and I'll be finished in a few weeks. I pay my own bills and give up all but the last couple of hours of my day to make sure I have what I need. While I know I'm still young and dont know everything there is to know, I am definitely not a kid anymore. I think he was trying to explain basically the same thing. He works and doesnt live with his mom anymore. He has a lot of responisbility & even though he's young, he's not a kid.
