Justin Bieber's latest tattoo likely shocked quite a few of his fans. It's not that surprising that the Biebs opted for some more religious ink since he already has Jesus' name written on his side in Hebrew, but his latest tat is much larger and more detailed than anything he's gotten in the past.
The very religious singer was recently spotting rockin' a pretty large portrait of Jesus on his left leg. The Christ on his calf sports a crown of thorns, and it looks like his eyes are lifted to the heavens.
Of course the Biebs' new ink is going to spark a lot of debate - is spending money on tattoos the best way for him to show his love for the Lord? Perhaps not, but everyone has different ways of embracing their faith, and at least he didn't have Selena Gomez' portrait inked on him -- tattoo expert Kat Von D found out the hard way that getting your current lover's face permanently plastered on your body isn't the best idea.
And while his tattoo is alarming large, it's of a much better quality that Zac Efron's latest bit of ink. The actor got the letters "YOLO" tattooed on his right hand, and while his tat is tiny, whoever did the ink didn't do a great job making the letters look neat and uniform. And while the Biebs' religious tats might be there to remind him to be a good boy, it seems that Zac's ink is meant to remind him to be a little bit bad sometimes -- "YOLO" stands for "You Only Live Once." The tat could be a reference to Drake's song "The Motto (YOLO)," or maybe Zac just got it because he's planning to live life to the fullest in 2012 (since the world is going to end and all).
Speaking of Drizzy, last month he was spotted sporting a massive new tat on his back. The ink looks like it's supposed to be a portrait of the late singer Aaliyah, whom the rapper has cited as a major source of inspiration for him. Her image is featured with a pair of angel wings, so it looks like Drake might share Justin's desire to display his spiritual side on his skin.
And even older stars are getting inked these days. Ellen DeGeneres decided to gift former "Dancing with the Stars" competitor Kirstie Alley with a tattoo for her 61st birthday, which she'll celebrate on January 12. Sadly Kirstie wouldn't get Ellen's initials tatted on her wrist, opting instead to have the letters "T" and "L" engraved on her arm. According to the no-longer-fat actress, the letters stand for the names of her children, her son True and her daughter Lilly.
So what kinds of celebrity ink do you like? Do you think large tattoos like Justin's and Drake's are impressive works of art, or do you think meaningful, small tats like Kirstie's and Zac's are more tasteful? Sound off!
