While appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday, Bowen criticized Kimmel for not putting enough effort into his workouts. The talk show host has a treadmill installed at his desk, but he doesn't get much use out of it.
So Kimmel came up with a physical challenge to prove to Bowen that he's more physically fit than she is -- he would race her around the studio, and the winner would get to take over the loser's Twitter for a day.
Poor Julie Bowen would live to regret poking fun at her competitor's paunch. Jimmy won the keys to her Twitter account, and you never want to lose your Twitter account to a comedian.
Jimmy flooded Julie's Twitter account with tweets that will probably lead to the "Modern Family" star receiving a lot of hate mail. He probably angered a lot of Beliebers by tweeting, "Why do people like @JustinBieber ? The only thing worse than his music are his fans. #truth #babybabybabyNO," and he tried to make it look like Julie is extremely jealous of her sexy costar Sofia Vergara by writing, "Tryin 2 get @SofiaVergara deported. :)"
He also made it look like Julie has a fetish for athletes with tweets aimed at Tiger Woods and Manti Te'o. Here's what he wrote to Manti: "Hey @MTeo_5, I'll be your girlfriend. #forrealz." Hopefully Teo doesn't fall for that lame attempt at catfishing.
This isn't the first time Jimmy has used Twitter and another celeb to pull a prank. During the Emmy Awards last year, the talk show host instructed viewers to go on Twitter to write, "OMG, Tracy Morgan just passed out at the Emmys. Turn on ABC right now!" He then asked Tracy to lay on the floor so that viewer just turning in would fall for the prank.
But Jimmy isn't the only celeb to pull a Twitter prank. Here's a look at few other stars who have fooled fans using the social media site:
Last year Kim excited Justin Bieber's fans by tweeting, "OMG I have @JustinBieber 's phone #!!!! 800 8683402! CALL HIM! He's taking calls for the next hour!!!" However, the phone number Kim posted was actually the number for fans to call to vote for Rob Kardashian on "Dancing with the Stars." Needless to say, Beliebers were not impressed with the prank.
Justin's fans also got excited last October when they thought that someone using the Twitter handle @gexwy had stolen the Biebs' laptop and posted a nude photo of the pop star on the web. However, the whole thing was just a hoax perpetuated by the Biebs to promote his music video for "Beauty and the Beat." After revealing that it was prank, he tweeted this: "since i was 14 i have had a lot of things said about me," he tweeted, explaining, "from dying, to taking hormones, to dying again, to stuff about my family... to saying i had a baby with a woman i never even met. nude pics, drugs, my family, my character...but today...today i get to be in on it (sic)." Justin also recently "pranked" his fans with a mooning photo -- maybe he felt bad that he actually didn't flash any flesh the first time around.
The Biebs isn't the only pop star who has fooled fans with a fake nude photo. Last December, it looked like Demi's Twitter had been hacked when the messages "Demi's twitter is hacked" and "Want to see Demi naked?" appeared on her Twitter page. Minutes later a photo was posted on her account, but it was just her face crudely cut and pasted on the body of a naked Barbie doll. The star then tweeted, "BAHAHAHAHA!!! Gotcha ;) hehehe." And poor Simon Cowell had probably gotten his hopes up!
