Judge Says Lindsay Lohan is Getting Her Life 'Back on Track' -- It's Time to Get Off the Lindsay Hate Train!

Actress Lindsay Lohan is facing a tough battle in the coming weeks.

It would seem that actress Lindsay Lohan really may be putting her legal drama behind her. At a hearing on Wednesday, Judge Stephanie Sautner actually heaped praise on the once-troubled actress for her recent efforts in following her court mandated community service commitments. "Ms. Lohan," Sautner said, "You're in the home stretch. The probation officer is pleased with your progress." If all goes according to plan, Lindsay's next hearing on March 29th could end up being her last in regards to the 2007 DUI case that has followed her ever since.

Sautner also said something that perhaps those outside of Lindsay's circles should listen to. "You seem to be getting your life back on track." Considering that just a few months ago the former Disney star had her probation and parole revoked for not taking her community service seriously enough, one would have to agree with Judge Sautner. Her progress in the legal realm added with some big upticks in career momentum mean that all signs really are pointing to a LiLo comeback.

First she announced in the middle of the courtroom battles that she would be appearing in Playboy nude, paying tribute to Marilyn Monroe. The issue was a big success for the gentleman's magazine, and for Lindsay. Next she was offered a returning gig as host on NBC's sketch comedy behemoth "Saturday Night Live." Followed right on the heels of the SNL announcement, it was revealed that she will be playing Elizabeth Taylor in a highly anticipated Lifetime movie.

Yet, to read the comments on blog and news articles around Lindsay's recent career steps, one would get the idea that she's "Persona Non Grata" for many. Perhaps it's the perception that she was given a charmed life and squandered most of it away partying too hard. Perhaps it's her own flippant attitudes and remarks prior to this recent renaissance of Lohan's that hardened the public's hearts to her. Mostly what one sees are further antagonistic accusations of the "Mean Girl" star's impending demise.

Perhaps though, it's time for all of us to collect our baggage and get of the Lindsay Hate Train. After all, don't we all love a good story of redemption in the face of seemingly insurmountable difficulty? The resurgence of the career of Robert Downey, Jr. into one of the most well-respected actors of our time should be more than enough evidence for the rest of us to see that people can and do change for the better all the time.

Admittedly, much of Lindsay's public relations nuclear winter was all of her own doing. She's the one who drove drunk; she's the one who allegedly stole the designer jewelry. Lohan herself can't deny her own culpability. However, if we really are to be a forgiving society, we must embrace even those we feel did the most damage to themselves, especially when we are witness to real change of attitude and behavior.

Ultimately the question is this: Is it not far more rewarding to root for someone to pull themselves back from the brink, than it is to root for someone to fall completely into the abyss?

You "journalists" have done nothing but bash and belittle her for the past few years.. make money off of her embarrassing moments and pretty much show no sympathy for her.. and now that a judge says she is doing "ok" you think you can just quit hating and take back all of the negative things you've said about her in the past? Talk about a hypocrite.
